Why Ticketmaster doesn’t refund

Many fans are fuming!

Because of the COVID-19 epidemic, many events and concerts are postponed/to be rescheduled (about 90%) or even cancelled (about 10%).

Before this, Ticketmaster stated, that in either case, tickets would be refunded. Now, they changed this to only in case of cancellation. See The Vancouver Sun for this in more detail.

Ticketmaster is owned by Live Nation. It’s president, Joe Berchtold, now told CNBC, that the reason for this is, that the ticket seller doesn’t have your money but that the venue does:

Ticketmaster doesn’t sell these tickets and sit on a mountain of cash. Ticketmaster sells tickets and gives the cash over to the venues where the events are held.
