=> November 30 - Ronnie and Ana at the ATP tour in LondonAlright - not too many news bits worthwhile during the last days. But don't you worry, more news will surface and hopefully it will be tour-news again. As Keith did most of the recent news with his bestseller bio and Mick keeps a low profile, it's at least Ronnie, the new and sober Ronnie, who caught the match between Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer at the ATP World Tour Finals in London, O2 Arena on November 28th. Together with Ana and sitting next to Diego Maradonna, he looked really great, as you can see below. If you want to get more details on this at dailymail.co.uk, and examiner.com. You'll find the bigger images at Daylife ...
=> November 22 - finally - the glimmer twins made it to psychology today!Yup, we all waited for this so very, very long. Finally the wait is over: psychology today has issued an article about Mick and Keith. Sadly, that analysis is a bit short, but that doesn't really matter. The conclusion is this:
![]() => November 20 - uncut magazine: Stones special issueOf cause, most of you know Uncut, the music mag from UK. These days, Uncut has published an issue devoted to the Stones and their music. Entitled "The Ultimate Music Guide: The Rolling Stones," that issue is due since November 17, 2010. It has 148 pages and promises to contain rare interviews, pics and of cause comments on the complete catalogue. Ronnie contributed some lines for the introduction. In a nutshell: that's a must-have for almost all of us. More info at examiner.com (thanks to Carla, Gazza)
=> November 16 - Some taste of rare pics and new pirates poster=> We know about THE LOST ROLLING STONES PHOTOGRAPHS: The Bob Bonis Archive, 1964-1966; now here's just one of 13 teasers (vanityfair.com) - awesome:
=> The first teaser poster for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides has surfaced (comingsoon.net). Opening in 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D theaters on May 20, the Rob Marshall-directed action adventure stars Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane, Kevin McNally, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Sam Claflin, Stephen Graham, Yuki Matsuzaki, Gemma Ward, Keith Richards, Richard Griffiths and Judi Dench. In "On Stranger Tides," Captain Jack Sparrow crosses paths with a woman from his past (Cruz), and he's not sure if it's love--or if she's a ruthless con artist who's using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne's Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn't know who to fear more: Blackbeard or the woman from his past. Rush reprises his role as the vengeful Captain Hector Barbossa, and McNally returns as Captain Jack's longtime comrade Joshamee Gibbs. Claflin stars as a stalwart missionary, while Berges-Frisbey is transformed into a mysterious mermaid. Yahoo! Movies is set to premiere the trailer for Walt Disney Pictures' "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" on December 13, 2010, at 4 p.m. Eastern Time/1 p.m. Pacific Time. => November 15 - Keith insists: tour in 2011In an interview with german newspaper Frankfurter Rundschau, he again fuels hopes for next year despite the denial of concrete tourplans of the management. In my translation, he says:
If you know german, go there and read the complete interview - it touches many questions which haven't been asked compared to the average interviews we have read these days ... => November 14 - complete Keith @ NYPL VideoNice to see and hear the complete interview Keith gave at the NY Public Library. Please download it here form stonesnews.com (mp4, 122MB) or view it right here - hope, you have fun with this! => November 13 - hear keith vs larssonYou'll find the soundtrack of the point during the interview, when Keith realises that Larson was the one who wrote the bad review of Goteburgh 2007 and that the same person was just interviewing him at the Schulmann Show (aftonbladed.se). Check it out at 9:00 minutes into the show until about 12:00... Also: what we can hear there fails to validate any claim of Keith hitting Larsson in any way. Although that might have been deserved or something, hehehe ... And another nice short interview with Keith: => November 11 - Many Lost photgraphs, One classic-rock-Award and Keith kicks reporter's head ...=> Keith has allegedly lashed out at a Swedish journalist critical of his work by smacking him in the head. He was interviewd by Markus Larsson, who had rated their last gig in Sweden in 2007 as 'amateurish', giving it two out of five. After Keith had catted for about 10 minutes with Larsson at a Parisian hotel on November 9th, he realised who he was talking to. Larsson says:
[You know folks, I can easily imagine this, hehehe ...] The meeting ended with the rock star threatening Markus Larsson and hitting him in the head, Swedish publication 'Aftonbladets' reported.
Meanwhile, officials have denied that any violance had occurred. And
Keith himself replied the allegations on an open letter to Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter.
Larsson responded to Richards by saying:

A private, behind-the-scenes glimpse into the early days of rock 'n' roll, this extraordinary collection shows Keith Richards, Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman, as well as band founder Brian Jones and other key figures and associates, on stage, in rehearsal, backstage, on vacations, traveling, getting haircuts, bowling, recording in the studio, and just hanging around being themselves.
A new exhibition of photographs from the book will be unveiled November 13th and continue through February 12th, 2011 at the New York flagship store of rock 'n' roll fashion designer John Varvatos in SoHo, NYC located at 122 Spring Street between Greene and Mercer streets. However Woody insisted he was qualified to accept the prize because of his intimate relationship with the songs, declaring from the stage: "I have played these songs for the last 30 years and it's about time that I collected! So thanks a lot!" Other big winners included AC/DC for band of the year, Slash for album of the year, and Journey for event of the year. ![]() => November 1 - Keith in NY Library, Gigs for 2011Keith has presented his autobiography in New Yorks Public Library on October 29. There is a nice report from of Rolling Stone about the event:
Go over there and read the full article. Here is a very nice picture gallery at facebook: His bio is very well received and Louis Vuitton even celebrates his book by making it available on it's website and at key stores in the US. The New York Post as well as spinner.com also have reports about this event. New album & tour: According to some of our friends who were at the NYPL event, "Keith said that he is continually pushing the Stones to do things, and that we can expect to see something next year (the way he said it, it implied studio work and live performances)." (thanks to jbirenz!) => October 29 - Tour summit in December, Live Nation Entertainment stocks on the rise ...As reported earlier, the Stones will have a summit in December to discuss future plans. This would concern a possible new album and tour. We also hear more and more hints towards this issue from Mick, Charlie and Keith. Ronnie is sober and ready. According to non-official sources, the Stones also will discuss a large deal they have been offered by Live Nation Entertainment. This also was a subject when rumours of bookings of swedish stadiums surfaced some weeks before. With this in mind, it one would expect stocks to rise a litte. And indeed, it seems so:
Go figure ... => October 28 - Keith's LIFE receives good reviewsMore and more reviews of Life surface by the minutes and the general tenor seems to be in praise. German magazine Stern called it 'one of the best books about music ever'. Here are some of the others:
And here's a nice treat from BBC - Keith on drugs and following problems: (thanks, David!)

=> October 27 - Keith confirms tour plans! More arenas than stadiums?
In the upcoming issue of the german mag "Stern", he said the following (my translation):
I say WOAH! That's about as optimal as it could get. Most of us fans would welcome this setting compared to the stadium gigs. I cast a small doubt on Keith's perspective, as far as financial issues are concerned. On the other side, I have to admit that I don't know how a Stones tour with more dates in arenas than staduims is financially viable and how high ticket prices would have to rise to guarantee this. Ouch. But nevertheless: we have no choice, I'm afraid, hehehe ... If you know German, here's the quote:

=> Ron Wood discusses his new album, "I Feel Like Playing," and also gear and guitar stuff with Premier Guitar Editor-in-Chief Shawn Hammond at the New York Palace Hotel on September 23, 2010. Enjoy!
=> October 25 - LIfe: a bestseller!
Carla Hey from Examiner published some of the sales rankings, dating from October 24, 2010 — two days before the book’s release date - so these rates may have changed already.
An audio excerpt from the "Life" CD set has Richards saying: "Believe it or not, I remember everything. So get ready for the ride. It starts with a bang. It starts with a moment when I was in deep trouble. When was I not? When everything — Rolling Stones and all — looked as if it was going to come to a sticky end on a country road in Arkansas. I used up my nine lives long ago, but here I am. I’m still playing. I’m still rocking and still rolling and I survived to tell this tale. And I hope you enjoy it." => October 24 - the Acid king, Woody on late late

Ronnie Wood and Mick Taylor are among stars lining up to perform at a gig aimed at saving a historic West End venue. The 100 Club in Oxford Street, established in the 1940s, has hosted music legends including Louis Armstrong, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, The Kinks and The Sex Pistols. It is said every generation associates it with a different genre of music, but the venue, now surrounded by chain retail stores, is currently under threat of closure. Owner Jeff Horton has said soaring rents and business rates, as well as rising VAT and alcohol duty, are to blame for the £100,000 yearly loss the club has racked up over the past three years. Organisers hope the high profile event, entitled Guitar Heroes Unite, will raise both funds and publicity for the campaign to save it. It’s feared that, failing a 11th-hour intervention from a sponsor, the venue will roll down its shutters for the last time this Christmas. Guitar Heroes Unite will be at the 100 Club, 100 Oxford Street on December 1 from 7.30pm-11pm. Guests will be confirmed on www.stephendalepetit.com, and all profits from the gig will go to the Save the 100 Club campaign. Tickets £35 advance or £38 on the door – www.wegottickets.com

Charlie gave Billboard a short but really nice interview, publishes October 9th by Paul Sexton.
I'll just cite a small excerpt from it; please go there and read the rest of the article.
"[...] We'll go on the road when Keith's bored, when his book's out of the way and he's bored, and Ronnie [Wood's] bored. At the moment, they're both not bored. Bored enough, I mean. So I think that will happen. How long and how we do it will be another thing. It takes a lot of thought, an awful lot, and it usually takes a lot of time."
Tour forecast - Thanks to taz22 (our thanks to him!) we hear from a talk he had with Tim Reis, that Tim, Blondie Chaplin, Darryl Jones, Lisa Fisher and Bernard Fowler are ready to tour and are waiting for the confirmation for the next Stones tour. So as the whole bunch of the supporting members of the band itself are waiting for the call, it so follows that things must be imminent.
As we know, the Stones will meet in December for a 'Tour Summit' and at least then, things will be official. Right now, from all that we hear, it is almost shure, that we will be treated with another tour and, hopefully, a new album.
Keith exhibition - By the end of October, the place to be might well be San Francisco, for there will be the opening at the San Francisco Art Exchange on October 23: “Before They Make Me Run – Portraits of Keith Richards ’63 to ‘71”
From the press release:
Keith Richards photography exhibition, opening October 23rd; just three days before his much-anticipated autobiography is released. Some of the world’s greatest rock photographers’ work is coming together to form an intimate look at the various stages of Keith’s life in “Before They Make me Run – Portraits of Keith Richards ‘63 to ‘71.”
[...]
Curated by Raj Prem and produced in association with SFAE, the exhibition includes images from iconic sessions such as Phillip Townsend’s first ever photographs of the Stones in Chelsea in the early ‘60s, Gered Mankowitz’s moody black and white portraits, Michael Cooper’s exotic images from Morocco and Joshua Tree, Michael Joseph’s “Beggars Banquet” photos, official Stones photographer Ethan Russell’s poetic images of the group’s 1969 and 1972 US tours, and Dominique Tarle’s photos taken during the recording of “Exile on Main St.” in the South of France. Additional photographers included are Peter Webb and David Montgomery with their memorable “Sticky Fingers” images, well known producer Eddie Kramer's intimate recording studio shots with Keith, and Jerrold Schatzberg’s shots of Keith dressed in drag.“Before They Make me Run” opens October 23 with a reception at the San Francisco Art Exchange from 7:00 – 10:00pm, 458 Geary street (between Mason and Taylor). Ronnie interview - if anyone had doubts about Ronnie getting back on track, being sober, himself and very much at ease, then please have a look at these two parts of a great interview, which Jeff Wood (lol!) did with him just recently.
Part 1:
Part 2:
- Ronnie: he's now sober an kicking since seven months. Apparently, he feels really good with it.In addition to his new album, we now have a judgement about his painting. Here's a short citation:
"Wood has ability, but his work is unresolved and scattered. Most of it is illustrative - straight from concert photos. Works such as Rolling Stones, 2009, are awkward attempts to capture the energy of what happens onstage. Passages in the painting allow line to emphasize form and space, but that success is negated by awkward color combinations and unintentional spatial ambiguities.
Despite the unfortunate use of ocher vignettes, the portraits Mick Jagger II, Keith Richards II and Charlie Watts II are well-executed. [..]
The best works in the show are in a series of untitled mixed-media figure drawings. Many seem to be drawn from life, allowing a rich sensitivity to shape and structure."

- Recommended Read: the review of the DVD of "Ladies and Gentlemen: The Rolling Stones" by Phyllis Pollack. I'll just cite a short snippet, so go there (examiner.com) and read the full review:
"[...] While many would expect to revisit this film and somehow notice how much the band has changed as far as its live performances, there is one striking thing that has not changed. It would be acknowledging that Jagger’s most recent performances are no less energetic in their delivery than they were back in 1972. I can attest to that, myself, having seen the band’s final appearances from their 2007 European tour. [...]"
GOOD NEWS: The boys will hold a summit meeting in December, probably the 10th, to decide on plans for a rumoured world tour.
Drummer Charlie Watts recently hinted the ageing rockers are planning one final road trip in 2011 or 2012, but guitarist Ronnie Wood insists nothing will be decided until the four band members meet in person to thrash out their future plans.
Ronnie Wood tells WENN, "It's all talk. Nothing's concrete yet. We normally have a summit meeting before the Stones do anything and that's coming up probably in December. It'll be interesting to see what everyone wants to do."
And the rocker lifts the lid on the inner workings of the band, adding, "At a Stones summit we sit around together and draw caricatures of each other and tell a few jokes and maybe see if any of us wants to work as a band again."
This is from contactmusic.com
Yup, true. Thanks to 94wysp.radio.com we have a free download of 'Lucky Man' from Ronnie's new album 'I feel like playing'. Enjoy!
Ronnie visited the Butler Institute of American Art on this week's Tuesday for the opening of an exhibition of his paintings, drawings and prints. About 300 people paid up to $200 each to attend the reception for the exhibition, which will be on display through Nov. 21. [...] In a telephone interview Tuesday afternoon before heading to Youngstown from Cleveland, Wood said he loves to go to museums. But when you're a Rolling Stone, sometimes it's difficult to enjoy an art show undisturbed... ==> Read on

An Evening With Ronnie Wood – ‘I Feel Like Playing’: Ronnie will play the Ambassadors Theatre, West London on Octzober 19th for two gigs at 7.30pm and 10.30pm.
Ronnie Wood needs no introduction to any fan of British rock music. Starting his career with The Birds and then Creation, it was when Ronnie joined the Jeff Beck Group that he truly started to stamp his identity on the music world. After that group split, Ronnie – along with Rod Stewart - joined up with ex-Small Faces Ronnie Lane, Ian McLagan and Kenney Jones in The Faces.
Whilst Ronnie [and Rod] moved on after a couple of years, The Faces are viewed by all rock fans as a truly classic band; and in fact they perform a handful of dates in 2010 with Mick Hucknall on vocals. After the release of his first solo album, Ronnie was invited to join the Rolling Stones - in 1975 – and remains with them to this day.
Tickets on sale Monday 27th September 10am. Available exclusively through the website of the Ambassadors Theatre, West Street, London, WC2H 9ND, Box Office: 08448 112 334
According to the SUN, Mick stayed in Laos searching for solitude, vsited temples and meditated with monks.
Quote:
The rocker dined in the hotel library away from guests and went out only to visit temples and meditate with monks. [... Mick] drank just water during his week alone in the city of Luang Prabang in Laos, South East Asia. A source said: "Mick booked two rooms in the hotel - one for himself, the other for his luggage. His room boasts the best view overlooking the mountains and Phousi Temple. But he then blacked out all the windows, even though the hotel is in a remote location and away from prying eyes. He clearly wanted to be at one with himself."The source added: "Mick uses the trip to regenerate himself. He spent hours with monks in the temples and chanted with them. He practises Buddhism and meditation every day. He says it's the first thing he does when he gets up in the morning. [...] Mick stays in different places and has a lot of contacts among the monks. He's said it's his favourite place in the world."
I say, if Mick stayed in Laos for that time, he's likely to catch up breath - before the new album & tour!

BTW: the countdown to the LADIES & GENTLEMEN shows is ticking. Only hours left...
It's been 6 months now, that our hellraiser has stayed sober, it seems. If that proofs to be correct, it would be very good news indeed! Right now he's in Spain for holidays!
Not a small part in that story may be due to Ana Araujo, Ronnie's brazilian girlfriend he's been dating since beginning of this year. He has credited her with supporting him as he pays regular visits to Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous to ensure he stays on track. Tough job, I suppose, at least in parts. Cheers to Ana: unless Ronnie stays clean and fit, he's in danger of missing the next tour. But before this could be a near possibility, Mick, Keith and Charlie would definitely kick his ass...

On Sunday, September 12, Keith was interviewed on indie1031.com by Native Wayne Jobson. Keith spoke about his reflections on Jamaica, reggae and of course, the Wingless Angels CDs, which can be ordered at Keith's site, too.
You can download or hear the interview right from here (mp3, 45MB)! Our many thanks to Andee and wsssoul!
Besides, Keith just appeared on two more recent albums: one is the Killer's new album Mean Old Man and his version of Sweet Virginia.
Again, Keith makes a guest appearance on RevelatioN, the new album from legendary dub reggae producer Lee "Scratch" Perry.
LONDON — The Rolling Stones have hit their peak again in 2010, this time in the form of a rarely seen rereleased movie of a 1972 concert.
"Ladies and Gentlemen ... The Rolling Stones" was originally released in late 1973 in Britain, but the film was not widely shown. The digitally remastered version, which made its global premiere on Tuesday in London, shows the Stones at their best, belting out classics like "Brown Sugar," "You Can't Always Get What You Want" and "Jumpin' Jack Flash" along with "new" songs like "Tumbling Dice," Sweet Virginia" and "Rip This Joint."
The latter songs were all on the 1972 album "Exile on Main St.," which was also remastered and rereleased this year to great acclaim.
None of the current Rolling Stones members that are in the movie — Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts — made it for the premiere, but former bassist Bill Wyman was in attendance. Wyman was with the band for 30 years but quit in 1992 to explore other musical opportunities.
Although Jagger wasn't there, a short interview with the lead singer was played on screen before the movie began.
"Everyone's very together and on," Jagger said in the interview, which was recorded about six weeks ago in London. "I can remember the Rolling Stones being very, kind of, lackadaisical, very sloppy band on stage. But this was obviously not the case on this day."
French jazz radio station TSF (tsfjazz.com) is going to air the first set of the A, B, C & D of Boogie Woogie of tomorrows gig, Wednesday, September 8, at the Duc des Lombards, Paris.
In an interview he gave to leJDD.fr on this day, he said (english translation, read the original french here):
When will you see the Stones?
I might see Mick as early as next month. Otherwise, it'll be around Christmas, I think…
And we will begin working on new songs, as usual ...
Is that good news or what???
=> update September 05 - More sources for this: Sify.com | momento24.com
BTW: if another tour of this scale is to be planned, it takes a lot of time to plan. Right now, the first deals must be short of signed, the suggestions for the stage designs must be already on their way etc. Even if they may have "reached an age where you can't look too far into the future", these deals and the management already must be really busy preparing things. And of cause we'll soon hear more details...Charlie will play eight jazz-gigs at the Duc des Lombards in Paris this week! See the article at leParisien.fr
=> September 03 - We now have another positive report on the subject of the new 50 years anniversary tour of the Rolling Stones. As Charlie told a French newspaper, he said that the group was considering going on tour in 2012 to celebrate their 50 years of its existence (see earthtimes.org for details):
"We are discussing it at the moment. We said that if we do something, it will be next year or the year after," the 69-year-old musician said in an interview published Friday in the French daily Le Parisien. But Watts said that it was increasingly diffcult to plan far ahead. "We have reached an age where you can't look too far into the future," he said. The Rolling Stones came together in April 1962, led by singer Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards, with Watts joining the group soon afterwards. Jagger is 67 years old, one year older than Richards."We will resume playing whenever Mick and Keith get bored," Watts said. "At the moment, they are having a good time."
Due age considered, we can be shure to know that the boys are planning something for us as far as their abilities reach. And that's good enough for me by this time. More news coming n soon, hopefully!
If you're a drummer or interested into Charlie's drumming, take a peek into the inside of view of things, here's a good point to start. And if you want to look further, here's a very recommented video, namend not surprisingly "If It Ain't Got That Swing"
LONDON (UNITED KINGDOM), Tuesday. On vacation of the Rolling Stones, drummer Charlie Watts, by the entrance to their lair, returns to his first love, accompanying a jazz band.
(LP / OLIVIER LEJEUNE.)
The song “She Said Yeah,” from 1965, serves as the soundtrack for a short advertising film for BLEU DE CHANEL, directed by Martin Scorsese. There are two parts as of today: part 1 | part 2
Gibson.com recently caught up with Taylor by phone from his London office, in between European shows. Ever the performer, the guitarist seems keen to get back on the road after having to cancel dates earlier in the year because of an illness.
As swedish newspaper 'Expressen' writes, Anders Albertsson, who is Arena-Manager of the Ullevi stadion in Goteburg, Sweden, has begun to negotiate with Life Nation for the possibility of a gig of the Stones in next summer. (thx to Addicted and FolkyFireKitten1 for the tips!)
=> Upate #1: As we hear from Vilhelm from the Stonesvikings (swedish stones Fans), what Anders Albertsson, the manager of Ullevi stadium says is, that should the Rolling Stones be touring, it´s very possible that they would be playing the Ullevi stadium. He has the impression that this doesn't tell anything about the year this could happen. ... Hmmmm ...
But we also hear, that band members (i.e Chuck, Bernard, Lisa, Tim etc...) have now been informed that there will be a tour!
According to Vilhelms translation, in that article it is mentioned, that
"next year it seems that these giants are on their way to Sweden and Göteborg. A foreign person working with the Stones has explained, as we (the newspaper) understand, that the Stones are going out on tour and will make a stop in Göteborg next summer. That info is also confirmed by a swedish source with good insight concerning the swedish arrangements. Anders Albertsson won´t confirm this and says: 'I know nothing about this. But we have started negotiations and discussions with Live Nation about future Ullevi bookings.'"
Well, that's allwe have by now, to be honest. Although this might not be very much, it generally points to the fact that "things are going on" and I BET, that this will lead to some really good news about a new tour and a (possibly) new album!
Negotiations between the management and possible venues at this time seem quite possible to me at this point. Although this is the first possible venue of a possible next Stones tour of which I heard so far, it is a little strange that this is an european venue. That would point to a tour starting in Europe before moving over to the US. Even if that would not be the usual way they tour, it still is a possibility. Lessons learned from tours before where tax issues forced them to cancel gigs in the UK. However things may develop, I'll keep you posted as soon as I can!
We can look forward to an official DVD release of the long awaited film "Ladies and Gentlemen, the Rolling Stones" in october 2010.
Before this DVD (Blue Ray too, of cause) will be released, Eagle Rock Entertainment and Omniverse Vision are partnering with more than 800 cinemas globally to screen this movie celebrating The Rolling Stones’ Exile On Main Street 1972 tour. There will be 531 movie cinemas in the U.S and many theaters in the UK.
According to a press release today from National CineMedia, a remastered version of the film, which captures the Stones onstage in Fort Worth and Houston and opened in limited release in 1974, will be screened in 531 movie theaters nationwide at 7:30 p.m. (local time) on September 16.
Here is a full list of all U.S theaters taking part! And it's just one day only: September 16!
Here's the setlist (in case you don't know already):
Kicking off their reunion tour at a concert held by American Express at the British Music Experience at London's O2 Arena, Hucknall ran through the hits to rapturous applause and shouts of "best band in the world" from the crowd. They played to an audience of just 400 people, so it was an intimate gig.
Ronnie was joined by two fellow original Faces members - drummer Kenney Jones and keyboard player Ian McLagan. Former Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock completes the line-up for the reunion tour, and last night Wood's son Jesse joined them on stage to play guitar. Speaking before their performance, the rocker said it was "magic" having Hucknall sing with the band. He said: "We do miss Rod but having Mick here is just unbelievable because it's one of those situations that you probably at first think wouldn't work but it's magic." Ronnie congratulated Rod Stewart on the news he and his wife Penny Lancaster were expecting another child together.

Here's the setlist, some pics and some stuff from YouTube. Apparently, the gig was recorded and there might be a DVD and CD of the 3 dhows later. (Thanks Brian1942 for the info & the pics!):
Hi folks, just got the message - go there to have a look. Not too much stuff there, but more to come!
Aparently, both The Beatles' legend Paul McCartney and the Rolling Stones are considered possible candidates to headline the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics. The Daily Star reports:
"The 2012 Olympics opening ceremony is going to be spectacular. It has to be to kick off the event in great British style. Everyone wants to be a part of this historical happening and what is great for us is The Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney are interested in playing," a source said.
"We're looking at the American Super Bowl's half-time show - which they have played at - as the kind of thing we're going for with the opening ceremony. It would be great to have both but there can only be one headliner. It's going to be difficult but talks have opened and we'll see what can be worked out," the source said.
Be that as it may - the Stones have not yet said anything official about this. But this is just another hint in the same direction of what we have to expect. And I bet, there will be more and more news surfacing soon!
This is his seventh studio record and entitled "'I FEEL LIKE PLAYING" and is due out 27th September 2010 [Cat. No. EAGCD428].
There's a bunch of friends and guests on the album, such as Slash, Flea, Billy Gibbons, Kris Kristofferson, Bobby Womack, Ian McLagan and more. At blogcritics.org, Phyllis Pollack writes a question he asked Bernard Fowler, the producer of Ronnie's album:
"I asked Fowler about the upcoming release, and he told me, "This is the second album I produced for him, and the hardest because of what he was going through, and it can plainly be heard." He adds, "With the help of Bob Rock and friends, it is a well rounded record, if I must say so myself."
Here's the tracklist:
Have a listen to 'Thing About You':
=> New at amzon and elswhere: RARE AND UNSDEEN - The Rolling Stones. As I haven't seen it yet, here's what Terrence Butcher at popmatters.com has to say about this DVD, among other things:
"[...] MVD Visual is betting that the band’s legions – no, generations of devotees - still hunger for more behind-the-scenes tidbits, as they’ve released this The Rolling Stones: Rare and Unseen on DVD. It isn’t a concert film, nor should it be, as the Stones have at least eight(!) of such under their belts, surely a record no other artist can match.
[...] This non-performance documentary – and the group has notched a few of those as well – contains over an hour of assorted clips, most allegedly not widely seen before. The footage isn’t limited to a particular era, but instead spans decades, from their early years of seducing Britain’s teen populace while scandalizing the starchy establishment to the middle-aged mega-stardom of the ‘80s onward. Refreshingly, there’s no chronological linearity in the film, so it’s impossible to predict what will come next, although that may be maddening to some viewers.
[...] Though occasionally engrossing, The Rolling Stones: Rare and Unseen is a must only for dyed-in-the-wool fans, and even they may wish there was more music in the doc; one wonders if that was a tangled rights issue there. It’s also unhelpful that no dates are ever mentioned for the clips we see, so the viewer is left to speculate. The film presents a lifetime of interviews, and I chuckle slightly while noting how various members, including Jagger, have aged, looking rather craggy and gaunt-faced as they slide into – dare I say – their elderly years. [...]"
As Bloomberg Businessweek reports, we have reasonable support for the best of our hopes! As far as the report tells, the Stones
" ... are in talks with promoters AEG Live and Live Nation Entertainment Inc. for a tour, according to a person who declined to be identified because talks are private.
[...] The Stones are planning concerts in the next few years and haven’t yet signed a contract, said the person. An auction for the tour has been under way for about a month and a group of independent promoters is also bidding, the person said."
Even if this will not be called a farewell tour, it could be promoted as such and the demand will be enormous, because .. this is the Stones, man! They grossed $558.3 million with their last tour, so everyone wants to join in of cause.
=> Ronnie displays his art: "He’s Like a Rainbow: Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones to Have Art Show in Ohio" (nytimes.com)
Ronnie will display his art at the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio - an eight-week exhibition that the museum says is the first American show of Mr. Wood’s art. The show lastss from Sep. 21, 2010 through Nov. 21, 2010. It will feature about 60 works. Ronnie is expected to be in attendance for the show’s opening at a gathering of museum patrons, and that, in this instance, no extraordinary requests appeared in his tour rider.

Together with his family and the mended from cancer Patty Hansen celebrated Patty's launch of HungOnU handbags. (Thanks to LadyJane and Voodoo for the info!) If you go there, you'll find pics from Patty and Keith at the Spring awards, many pics of Theodora with the Hung-On-U bag and infos about charity. These bags are fairly priced and some part goes to charity . Lately, the August-issue of Vogue has a feature on Patty and lots of infos about the bags, but more important, the story of her cancer fight and how her family fit in there.
Hung on U now introduces a unique and versatile bag that conforms to your body, ties in various knots, and folds for easy travel, making a stylish, functional, and flattering alternative to the utilitarian fanny pack. Because every woman has a unique sense of style, the collection crafted for you includes varieties in nylon, denim, glitter, suede, and pony that will appeal to all aesthetics and lifestyles.

=> July 28 - Ronnie to tour with the Faces - August 11th, 13th and in January 2011
Simply Red's Mick Hucknall is gonna take Rod Stewart's role. Watch Ronnie and Kenny Jones answering questions to the BBC:
=> July 27 - We already saw this coming more than a year ago or something; now this thing seems to dawn upon us!
Farewell? Well, not yet, it seems. According to Entertainment Weekly (or the NY Post), a Stones representative has denied the farewell part of the disussion. That leaves the new tour, new album part of the issue. And that was NOT denied. By now, things are slowly moving to their place, it seems. Considering the scale of one more Stones world tour, it is safe to say that behind the curtains, the planning has already begun. According to a fan in Richmond, Charlie stopped by Mick two days ago (July 24th) and there was some gathering going on. Maybe because Mick's approaching birthday, but it's easy to assume that some tourplans were made as well.
=> July 26 - Meanwhile, we hear from Ronnie, that this tour is not meant to be a farewell. Which is alright for me, 'cause the Stones never have agreed to any 'Last Stones Tour' since 1965!
Ronie said: “We’ll rock till we drop.” He confirmed that he, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts ARE planning a tour – but it will NOT mean the end: “We have all agreed this won’t be the last time. Everyone’s rocking.” (see people.co.uk fot this)
=> July 25 - The Stones are set to finally bow out after 50 years in music - with a giant farewell tour! As The Sun reports, they are in talks with promoters Live Nation about the tour, and a source said:
"They're likely to perform in stadiums. It's almost certainly the last full-scale world tour. The band realise that age is creeping up on them. They want to bow out on top of their game, and not short-change their fans."

Next things we all will like to know: will they put out a new album with the tour? Of cause they should!! There will be an official announcement soon, I guess and of cause I will get all the important news ready for you here to the best of my abilities. So stay tuned!
Patti Hansen reveals in the August issue of Vogue magazine that she was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2007.
She says she first underwent chemotherapy, which shrunk the tumor but didn't get rid of it completely. One doctor said she had two to three years to live.
Her next move was a bold one: Doctors removed her bladder and used her intestine to create a neobladder, or a new bladder. She also had her appendix removed and a full hysterectomy.

=> As we all wait for Keith's bio to be released, the PR seems to gather speed.
Now we can read reports, that "Keith Richards planning new tell-all book" or "Keith Richards exposes Mick Jagger in autobiography" or that "Mick Jagger upset with Keith Richards' revelations" or things like:
The autobiography is being seen as a big gamble by the guitarist because its revelations could permanently fracture the band. [...] An early draft has already been written, with band's management advising him to tone certain sections down in order to avoid a confrontation with his bandmate.
Well, this of cause does the trick, I think. A more balanced view could be found in "The Odd Couple", I guess. Nevertheless - this book seems to be a must have for most of us, right!?

==> Jagger's Jukebox!
Runs 120 min. and there are 6 days left to listen to it at the BBC:
Mick hand-picks a selection of artists and music that influenced the band's ground-breaking sound, in particular their classic album Exile On Main St. In conversation with Paul Sexton, Mick talks through a wide-ranging playlist that reflects his own, and the band's, love of classic R&B, gospel, country and reggae.
The fascinating mix of material conjures up the musical environment of the late 60s and turn of the 70s, in which the Stones, and so many of their peers, were scaling new and ever more eclectic creative heights. In a show that includes both vintage hits and lesser-known gems, we'll find out which of the band's fellow rock acts from that era have Jagger's personal seal of approval. We'll also hear some brilliant soul records that have remained his all-time favourites; plus singer-songwriters; giants of country and Americana; and much more besides.
==> Drug free and sober for 60 days
Go go go, Ronnie, go!
While Exile roars, Ronnie has stayed clean and sober for about two months now. Ana Araujo is still with him and he has plans to go on the road with the reunited FACES - with Mick Hucknall, 49, from Simply Red, as the singer instead of Rod Stewart, while former Sex Pistol Glen Matlock, 53, has replaced Ronnie Lane - who died in 1997 - on bass.
So the band consists of Wood and two other original members, drummer Kenney Jones, 61, and keyboardist Ian 'Mac' McLagan, 65.
'It will be the first time the Faces have ever been focused,' Ronnie said. 'Normally, we would all have gone on stage with a bottle.'

==> Mick on Touring (blogs.wsj.com):
To mark the release of the new, expanded “Exile on Main Street,” the Rolling Stones briefly considered a tour during which they’d play the entire album. [...]
Though Jagger found the idea intriguing, he wasn’t sure a vast audience would. “Some people might think it’s great,” he said. “Others would be bored to death.” Almost immediately, Jagger saw problems. “How do you book it? We’re playing one album only? In order?” [...]
“You’d have to play some other material,” Jagger allowed. Which Morrison and Wilson both did in their shows. [...] Jagger wondered what Stones fans would expect next. “Are you going to play ‘Sticky Fingers’ and “Let it Bleed’?” he asked rhetorically.
In the end, Jagger and the band decided against an “Exile” tour. “The thing is,” he said, “we’ve done quite a lot of those numbers live.”
Which suggests, when the Stones next tour, “Exile on Main Street” once again will be well represented.

Stones fans have been spoiled with the expanded Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out! and now Exile, but what's on the cards? "Nobody's going to make a decision about what we're going to do until we get further into 2010," says Richards. "No doubt the guys are going to want to talk about whether we're going to record and go on the road in one form or another. Maybe we're going to talk about doing it differently. ...this is about Cocksucker Blues and it's from the Times Online herself, woah:
There are secrets, and then there are secrets. With all the carefully recalibrated stories about drug excesses and sexual high jinks during the recording of the Rolling Stones’ 1972 album Exile on Main St, it’s hard to believe there could be anything that Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and the rest of their band of groovy, deeply grooved superstars could possibly have to hide or be ashamed of. So it’s astonishing to discover that, for nearly four decades, the Stones have vigorously enforced a strict legal injunction banning the screening of a documentary about them, a film some of the few people who have seen it think is a masterpiece.

==> Keith gets restless ...
The Toronto Sun reports:
Keith is fed up with Mick Jagger stalling the next Rolling Stones album - he wants the band to record new songs as soon as possible.
[...] The guitarist is itching to get back into the studio and is desperately trying to find out when Jagger is likely to want to reunite.
He says, "I'm trying to find out when it will happen myself. I sent a note to (drummer) Charlie Watts saying, 'Should I put an ad in a music magazine - guitar player for hire?' I've got to do something.
"It doesn't matter which band, you have got to have the frontman wanting to do it. You can't shove the lead singer into it. I learned that many years ago. I usually wait for Mick to call me. When he does, it's because he's got an itch and wants to go to work."
==> Jagger confirms next tour!!!
Mick feeds our hopes for another Stones tour, most probably that will happen in 2011. He said:
“I’m sure we will. It would be stupid to say there won’t be another Stones tour because I love doing them and I always imagine there would be another Stones tour. When that’s going to be I don’t really know at this point.”

Remember SAM CUTLER!? You should, because Sam Cutler leaves no Stones unturned!
1) This is another recommended read at the Globe and Mail.
1969 - It was Cutler who, show after show that fall, introduced Mick, Keith & Co. as “the greatest rock-’n’-roll band in the world” – a handle Cutler had coined earlier at a concert in London’s Hyde Park. It was Cutler, too, who was the nominal MC of the group’s free final show, a hastily organized outdoor gig at the desolate Altamont Speedway east of San Francisco.

2) Out Of Exile - a three page review from billboard.com about the album, the times and the scope of this re-issue. Particularly interesting are details such as those told by Mike Davis, GM/executive VP of UMG's catalog division Universal Music Enterprises:
Universal is treating the album like a new release rather than a catalog reissue, with what Davis calls a "front-line release strategy that crosses radio, TV, online, mobile, retail and merch."
Key to the initiative will be a weeklong Stones celebration on NBC's "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" beginning May 10 that will feature a number of high-profile acts performing songs from "Exile," including Keith Urban (May 11), Sheryl Crow (May 12) and Phish (May 13). The week culminates with NBC's May 14 U.S. premiere of Stephen Kijak's documentary film "Stones in Exile," mixing "Exile"-era footage with current band member interviews. In the United Kingdom, "Stones in Exile" will premiere on BBC 2, although an exact airdate is to be announced.
Universal is also ensuring that the new tracks get as wide an audience as possible. "So Divine (Aladdin Story)" will make its global debut as a synch in the May 2 broadcast of CBS' "Cold Case" seventh-season finale, while hot on the heels of "Plundered," "Following the River" will be serviced to U.S. and international radio up to two weeks ahead of the album's bow. Its accompanying video-newly edited from archive footage-will premiere on the band's relaunched website (rollingstones.com) around the same time.
Orla Lee, London-based GM of Polydor U.K., says the campaign will feature a "two-tiered approach" aimed at attracting a "young, new audience" outside the existing fan base. This includes an increased online presence, with the Stones' recently launched Facebook page already attracting more than 813,000 fans.

Spike TV has honoured our Keith with the "Scream 2009 Rock Immortal Award" - well chosen, I say!
The announcement was made Thursday by Casey Patterson, Spike TV's senior vice president of talent development and event production.
The two-hour Scream 2009 awards show is to tape Saturday at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, Calif., and will premiere on Spike TV Oct. 27.
"Keith Richards is part rock god, part superhero and nobody had rocked as hard and lived to tell about it," Patterson said in a statement about the longtime member of the Rolling Stones. "As his friend Johnny Depp once pointed out, Keith Richards was a beloved and feared pirate long before he ever played the part in any movie."

The Not Fade Away Gallery (NYC) presents "THE BRITISH ARE COMING!," a world premiere exhibition of previously unpublished, extraordinary photographs of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones at work and at play…as photographed by Bob Bonis, their first U.S. tour manager.
Forty-five years after the The Beatles and The Rolling Stones first came to America, an extraordinary collection of "lost" photos of the young bands has just been discovered. The 3,500 photographs -- extraordinary, intimate and unpublished -- were taken by Bob Bonis, their U.S. Tour manager, during their first U.S. tours (1964, 1965 and 1966) and document perhaps the most critical point in their careers: coming to America.
