June 17 – Nashville tonight!!
=> First reviews! From what I have seen and heard via Periscope, that show was a killer! After the 5 day break, the band seemed really tight and demanding. They played very well, loud and clear. Since the last tours, their sound is much louder, guitars very much in front, which gives you the impression to listen to a garage band. What they really are, in a way, at least from their more traditional point of view, so to speak. No gimmicks, just the band and you can hear every little fault or scratch in their play. That happend last night, of cause, but only to a minor degree. They really played very well, the solos came blistering and fine and the whole band was on fire. Here’s what the press reports so far: Rolling Stones give fans rock ‘n roll at LP Field, and they like it (wkrn.com) | Brad Paisley Joins The Rolling Stones For Dead Flowers In Nashville (noise11.com) | Rolling Stones take over LP Field (wsmv.com) | The Rolling Stones’ age-defying victory lap returns to Nashville (nashvillescene.com) | Rolling Stones saxophonist remembered at Mercy Lounge tribute (tennessean.com) | Sticky Fingers Re-Release at #5 in the charts! June 07 – first reviews from Arlington
=> The Rolling Stones at AT&T Stadium: Jagger’s moves, Richards’ grooves and a whole lot of Texas love (guidelive.com)
=> Rolling Stones at AT&T Stadium (startelegram.com) – nice review! Here’s a quote: “… Watching Jagger, throwing little harmonica stabs at the beginning of Midnight Rambler, physically react to Richards’ downstroke of the song’s indelible riff, as Wood began playing guitar behind Jagger, was to see molecules shift and a chemical reaction transpire before your eyes — the song, from 1969’s Let It Bleed, literally popped to life, a great, churning, greasy blues that built up to a gloriously messy climax. …” Here are some of the pics of the gallery (photos by Roman A. Pena, dfw.com and Smiley N. Pool, guidelive.com):

Whitworth is the same person who paid $1 million to have Paul McCartney play at his then wife’s 50th birthday a few years ago…

May 24 – Tourstart in San Diego!
=> The Show should start soon now. 9:30 pm they said. Here is the opening – wow, what a BLAST! If you use Periscope, try this (the vovery) – on and off but cool – there’s more people streaming…
San Diego! Are you ready for the Rolling Stones?! They’re ready for you!
- Jumping Jack Flash
- It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll
Thank you very much San Diego! It’s great to be back here I can tell you! This is the first show of our 2015 ZIP CODE tour and we’re glad to start it right here! - All Down The Line
- Tumblin’ Dice
Thank you! I like that!
– Its great to be back in Petco Park, we were the first band to play Petco Park when it was named that back in 2005. The Petco people have been wonderful to us.. they supplied all the backstage catering… I particularly like the Chicken & Venison tin and Keith liked the Shepherds Pie flavour Ronnie Wood liked the T-Rex Tortoise Formula but I’m worried he’s now into his shell…
We do this one called - Doom & Gloom
We’re gonna do a few songs from Sticky Fingers! Not the whole album, which we did the other night in Los Angeles, and I think we got away with it… We’re gonna be helped out very graciously by Gary Clark! Come on Gary! Very nice set he did earlier. We’re gonna do this one called - Bitch (with Gary Clark Jr.)
Gary Clark Jnr! Thank you Gary!
We’re gonna have to slow it down a little bit.
We’re gonna do another song from Sticky Fingers.
It’s great to be here on Memorial Day weekend – I know there’s a lot of men & women are here from the services & its great to have you here.
This one’s called - Moonlight Mile
Thank you San Diego!
Last one from Sticky Fingers, in this little bit anyhow… - Can’t You Hear Me Knocking
Fantastic! Almost jazz…
Thank you all you San Diegans! San Diegons…!
We put some some songs up on line and we don’t find out what the winner is until it comes up on screen… - Street Fighting Man (song vote)
Are you feeling good?! - Honky Tonk Women
Thank you very much, thank you very kindly! I’d like to introduce you to a beautiful lady and friend of mine, Miss Lisa Fischer on backing vocals! Alongside her Mr Bernard Fowler, on the saxophone Tim Ries! On the tenor sax Karl Denson, he’s from San Diego! On the bass Darryl Jones! On the keyboard Chuck Leavell!
On the guitar Mr Ronnie Wah Wah Wood!
On the drums, he’s been surfing for days down here, Charlie Watts!
On the guitar and now the vocals Keith Richards!
Good evening San Diego! Good to be back here, it’s been a while, you can’t be everywhere! This one’s from Steel Wheels, it’s called - Slipping Away
…It’s Before They Make Me Run! Old habits die hard… - Before They Make Me Run

We’re having a great time here in San Diego. It’s so beautiful here, why would anyone want to leave…especially The Charges. - Miss You
- Gimme Shelter
- Start Me Up
- Sympathy For The Devil
- Brown Sugar
Thank you very much San Diego, you’re really wonderful, goodnight!
Encores - You Can’t Always Get What You Want (with the Members of the Bob Cole Conservatory Choir)
Thank You – fantastic, San Diego! - Satisfaction
=> Gary Clark Jr. is on stage right now – so we have a little time left.
Before, the Stones had a soundcheck on the stage. First, the choir did You Can’t Always Get What You Want, then came Rock Me Baby, All Down The Line, Can’t You Hear Me Knocking, Moonlight Mile; Doom & Gloom, Bitch and YCAGWYW again. Well, that’s a nice preparation for what’s to come… [thx tookthatname, zimmy74, sdb]
=> Can you believe it? Again, we have the pride and joy to count down the last hours before The Rolling Stones start their new tour. We’ve been lucky for more than 50 fuckin’years now. Really, folks, if you think about it … I’m simply floored and I’m incedibly proud of this band! So all of you who got tickets to one of those shows to come: enjoy it and celebrate these incedible band!
=> Mick has spent the day yesterday to hike near San Diego, Keith traveled by bus and we should not forget to vote our song of choice for San Diego: we can choose from among Let’s Spend The Night Together,
Street Fighting Man,
Get Off Of My Cloud and When The Whip Comes Down! If you have time before the show, try the Hard Rock Cafe, it will be full of Stones fans. And if you are looking for more Stones gear, check out the Lucky Brand Store at 621 5th Avenue – they play Stones music, too [thx keefgirl, sdb]. The stage has been set up [thx haukej, hairball, iorr]. If there’s time in the morning or at noon, check out the stadium, you might get to hear the soundcheck! In the backstage area, all signs are ready for the band’s feeling at home, wherever they are… [thx jimpietryga, sdb]

=> Great reviews for a even bigger show: the press on yesterday’s gig at the Fonda theatre! The Denver Post: Rolling Stones rock small LA club ahead of stadium tour / The NY Times: Rolling Stones Rock Small LA Club Ahead of Stadium Tour / UT San Diego: Rolling Stones soar at surprise L.A. show: The band’s Wednesday gig at the intimate Fonda Theatre was a triumph of passion and musical craft. Hey hey hey! How you doing, alright? First song:
- Start Me Up
Thank you! How you doin’ alright? Nice to see you! This one we do called - When The Whip Comes Down
- All Down The Line
This is our first show, on Sunday we go to San Diego and play for the San Diegans
So tonight we’re doing something we’ve never done before… we used to make these things that go round & round with cardboard covers…
We’re gonna do the whole of STICKY FINGERS! In the order of the 8 track tape… The 1st one we’re gonna do is - Sway
- Dead Flowers
We’re gonna continue the slightly countryish feel, this one we recorded in Muscle Shoals, which I suppose is in the country… - Wild Horses
I should’ve warned you there are lots of 60s drug references in the songs. It was quite a groovy scene..I think it’s coming back around here. Here’s one of them, it’s called
- Sister Morphine
Yes indeed, that’s a bit of a down song! And there’s more to come it was a bit of a down period!
This one is by Mississippi Fred McDowell, with a 12string & Keith’s gonna do the 12string tonight - You Gotta Move
This one’s called - Bitch
- Can’t You Hear Me Knocking
Thank you! And thank you, Karl Denson! A bit of jazz, almost jazz there, a rarity!
We’re going to do this one nice and slow… - I Got The Blues
How’s it going so far, alright? Blimey, next year we’ll come back and do the whole of Satanic Majesties… This one is called - Moonlight Mile
Just one more from that album! - Brown Sugar
Thank you so much Los Angeles!

WHEN: TONIGHT
ONSALE: TODAY AT 12 NOON PT, ONLY AT rollingstones.com
Show time: 8 PM //
Doors open at 6:30 PM
// No line-ups prior to 5:30 PM
=> Yes, it’s today and the re-release of Sticky Fingers will play a role! Apparently, there’s a filmcrew at the theatre and maybe there is a broadcast later [thx paperposter, sdb]. That could point less to a simple warm-up gig but more to a kind of DVD production or something. The filming is done by JA Digital from London, UK. Local station announced that show without mentioning tickets [thx Fonda, sdb]. Maybe it’s on invitation only, like the gig at the Beacon…
=> OPENING ACTS: Brad Paisley in NASHVILLE, Kid Rock in OHIO, St. Paul and the Broken Bones in ATLANTA and BUFFALO, Buddy Guy in MILWAUKEE, Gary Clark Jr in SAN DIEGO, Grace Potter in DALLAY [thx Chris!], Ed Sheeran in KANSAS CITY, Awolnation in PITTSBURGH, Walk The Moon in DETROIT
=> Only a few days left before the tour starts: it’s about time for another surprise gig of the Rolling Stones in LA/Hollywood! Some rumors point to the Fonda Theatre, but that’s not certain. In less than 24 hours, we will know for sure! I’m so much enjoying the excitement growing again just before all of this happens. Tons of good luck to all of you who are in the area and are prepared to join in the right queue! Send in some lines, post some pics, TWEET TO STONESNEWS, if possible, and let’s share the fun!
July 20, 2011 (and for eternity) – The Rolling Stones, Sticky Fingers And The Lost Photo Session
Ok, this comes a bit late. But since there are no more news about the possible gigs for Hide Park or anything like a tour in 2012 right now, I thought we could use the occasion and look back over yonder…
Recently, a treasure of photographs were discoverd after photographer Peter Webb‘s negatives went missing after shooting the Stones for that monster record “Sticky Fingers“. Then, out of nowhere, they are re-discovered after a gap of almost 40 years. Let’s have a look… oh man, have a look at Keith’s eyes …
