Next up: UK/Ireland tour 2018 !!!!
November 9 – The Rolling Stones are #1 at Pollstar / Why no UK dates in 2017?
=> Stones #1 at Pollstar! According to Pollstar.com, the Rolling Stones have jumped straight to the top after submitting their full “No Filter” European tour to Pollstar, with an average gross of $10 million per event and an average of 62,945 tickets sold…
=> Why no UK dates? When are the Rolling Stones playing UK gigs in 2018 and why didn’t they visit Britain in their No Filter tour this year – The Sun is asking. Well, they wrote: “Sorry to our UK fans that we cannot play UK dates on this run, due to lack of available venues, because of sporting fixtures. But we hope to be here in 2018!“. So we can very much look forward to a new album (hopefully) and tour next year!
=> Nice review + picture galery of Paris III – Aside from death and taxes, the third certainty in life is that it’s almost impossible to not enjoy oneself at a Rolling Stones gig. For seasoned fans and newcomers alike, what you’re going to get might be fairly predictable – a faithful run through of their biggest hits with a couple of surprises thrown in for good measure – but then, what else would you want to hear?
[ … ] read on at clashmusic.com!
November 8 – Mick: UK-Tour ’18 / Annie Leibovitz / Jeep & the Stones tour / Tabloid news
=> It’s official: UK Tour next year! According to news sources, Mick is currently meeting promoters to secure dates likely to include HUGE stadium shows! Aah, that’s so good news whe you have Stones-tour-withdrawal! Mick said: “We were disappointed not to perform in the UK on our recent jaunt and we’re looking forward to getting plans in place to do so next year.“. Sources: contactmusic.net, thesun.co.uk
=> Annie Leibowitz was interviewed and oc course there is some Stones content! Leibovitz tells “CBS This Morning” co-host Charlie Rose about the time she spent touring with one of the biggest rock ‘n’ roll bands of all time.

=> And yes, Mick has been dating film producer Noor Alfallah, 22 years old, lately. However, Mick’s spokesperson has confirmed to MailOnline that he is still with girlfriend, Melanie Hamrick – the mother of his 10-month-old daughter Deveraux. More details on this kind of story: dailymail.co.uk, thesun.co.uk
October 30 – Paris II complete in videos!
=> I’m definitely on withdrawal. Stones No Filter withdrawal and I bet so are you! And in this case: quite rightly so! It’s been a phantastic tour! So all we can do until the next fix’o’tour is to recall what has happened just some days ago. One thing to calm the thirst for more could be to re-visit the gigs which just have happened.
Finally, I got PARIS II together and I hope you enjoy it! And then comes along our friend Lukas and mails me his take of PARIS II – he had lucky dips for the left side and got the whole thing down on YouTube! So go there and join the fun!
October 26 – No Filter aftermath
=> WHAT A BAND! I saw the band in Düsseldorf and Arnhem. I follow every tour of them since years. If they play near my home, I go and see them – much more so since we can use streams to take part in the fun, even if the gig is on the other side of this planet.
I’m so very proud of them!
And we are so unbelievably lucky to be fans for this band – there’s no other to compare to The Rolling Stones. I’m a fan since I was 10 years of age. They are in their 55th year of performing live and they will continue to tour. At least until one of them drops down.
In any case, I can’t believe I am so very much looking forward to the next tour next year and the new album! And thats my strongest feeling by now.
Again: WHAT A BAND! And what a community we have!!
=> Nice review of Paris III and some pics by the Dailymail.

Octomer 16 – Arnhem aftermath
=> What can I say!! It was a phenomenal show! Came back at night at 2 in the morning, slept for 4.5 hours and off to work. Well, compared to Düsseldorf, this show was more intense, I feel. That might be subjective sind it was the second and last show for me on this tour, but at least concerning the crowd, this holds true! People were really enthusiastic and cheerful, even in the back where we had lucky dips tickets for general standing. I choose to stay in the back, because in Düsseldorf, the echoes in the middle of the field were really heavy. So, for me and my son, this show was better also soundwise.
And the band – folk, just incredible! One of the highlights for me clearly was Keith’s ballad, Slipping Away – he sang this with so much intensity, seriousness and sincerety that it was a sight&sound to behold forever. It brought tears to my eyes. Midnight Rambler was particularly and beautifully mean this time. This song for me is some kind of inner sanctum of this band – it’s the Stones at their best! The two blues songs from Blue&Lonesome are fixed into the setlist and quite rightly so – 2 x very tight, 3.20 minutes of superb Blues numbers, excellenty interpreted – with greetings from the heart & soul of The Rolling Stones! Then we got Dancin’ With Mr. D and She’s So Cold. Again, very intense and rocking, particularly She’s So Cold. Mick was unbelievable and very into it. Of course ha always is, but several times this evening I thought that he was more than 100% committed – he really was into it! The last 6 songs were just one punch in the face topping the other. I can’t think of any other band playing Rock’n’Roll with this sheer intesity, force, competence and joy that The Rolling Stones. Period.
One word about virtuosity: I don’t go to a Stones gig and expect them to play flawlessly. Rock’n’Roll is not really about beauty and harmony. Funny enough, just because this band plays almost without exeption at the edge of catastrophy – this music only then really becomes alive. And this is one of the most difficult things a musician can try to establish during playing live. It’s exactly what the Stones are doing since more than 55 years! I’m so proud to be their fan! And how lucky have we been for fucking 55 years? What a band!
October 14 – Showtime for Arnhem

=> DEAR FOLKS! AGAIN I’m off for the gig! Arnhem is my 2nd show this tour and after the Düsseldorf experience I am VERY much looking forward to see the band again there! I’m having Lucky Dip Tickets, so keep your fingers crossed for me! 🙂
=> So there will be no updates for this show here at stonesnews.com. I’m sorry, but hey, you see … hope you don’t mind… So please check out the Facebook pages for the live-streams tomorrow. There might be Periscope streams, too, but in comparison the Facebook feeds outnumbered those via Periscope by far. So just check both possibilities and have a blast for the Arnhem show! I, for one, surely will!! 🙂
Song vote: For Arnhem you may choose one of these: She’s So Cold / Just My Imagination / Rocks Off / All Down The Line!

=> Oh, and BTW, in Düsseldorf, Angus Young dropped by for a visit backstage! (Isn’t that MIck in the back??) And Ronnie and his twins worked on the setlist!
October 10 – Düsseldorf aftermath
=> What a great show it was! The band was crisp, tight, loud and in good mood! Here is a nice review by rollingstone.de with the highlights – text, pics + videos. More reviews: Der kleine Mick möchte aus dem Jungbrunnen abgeholt werden (rp-online.de “Little Mick wants to get picked up from the fountain of youth” / Rolling Stones liefern in Düsseldorf unvergessliche Show (general-anzeiger-bonn.de “The Rolling Stones deliver an unforgettable show in Düsseldorf“)

=> Now for the promised Scope-stream: We tried it! Everything working perfectly. As the support act, Rival Sons, was playing, we tested the connection for a while, and as you can see here (check the “Test RS” stream), it worked! So no problem, we thought. So when the Stones came on, we started the feed. AND BAM! We got no connection! In the display, it said something like “Error with APP-Start” and there was NO connection anymore! We tried is several times during the gig, always with the same result: the App couldn’t establish any connection! So, very sadly, we couldn’t share the fun with this great gig with you. I am really terribly sorry for raising hope we couldn’t fulfill. But there simply was no way to get it done. The reason for this as it happend can only be EITHER a) the connections at Esprit Arena were too small for handling all the connections which started whe the Stones began playing, OR b) there is some intentionally blocking of specific ports which the Periscope APP uses, OR c) the volume of data is intentionally narrowed down when the Stones start playing, OR d) some folks checked out our announcement and blockt our IP somehow. IMHO, I tend to look at b) and c) as the most likely answeres to all this mess! And guess what, AFTER the gig, we could go live again: see here (check out the “Test after RS” stream). More in this follows…
Oktober 8 – Stones in Düsseldorf
=> So tomorrow, I will go and see the greatest Rock’n’Roll band ever to walk upon the surface of this planet in Düsseldorf! Me and a friend will provide a Periscope stream of the show for you. We scincerely hope, that everything works out fine and the connections will stay solid. To find us, go to this periscope page or search Periscope for ‘Rolling Stones’ – there might be others streaming, too. Let’s have a blast, everyone! 🙂
=> According to the Westdeutsche Zeitung, the band is in Düsseldorf since Saturday! Also check out rp-online.de for reports here. As for the song vote: you can choose from among these: When The Whip Comes Down / Get Off Of My Cloud / You Got Me Rocking / Respectable. Let’s vote for WHIP or RESPECTABLE!
October 6 – Barcelona’s ready…
=> Ok folks, the weekend dawns but the Barcelona show in videos is ready 4 you. Just have a click here and I hope you enjoy! More to come of course later …
October 5 – Düsseldorf streaming / little holidays / Barcelona in videos coming up
=> Yup, folks, the Düsseldorf gig is next and I’ll be there!! I just can’t wait. Well, sadly, in consequence, I won’t be able to update stonesnews.com. B-U-T! And this should be a huge “BUT”, hehehe, I will try to get a stream done for the whole show next Monday!
Naturally, I will post some information here so that then you can find it. So far, I plan to stream via Persicope. During this tour, most of the streams have been via Facebook, but here and there Scopes were happening, too. So if they don’t block the ports for Periscope streaming, I will get the show to you live from Düsseldorf! I really wish that it works out as planned, because these streams have been so much fun to witness if you didn’t have a ticket or time to go to the show. It’s not at all comparable to beeing there, but, you know, it’s still the Rolling Stones live and that’s all it takes. So let’s keep our fingers crossed for next Monday!
=> Small intermediate holidays for the band until next Monday! 🙂
=> I’m preparing the Barcelona show in videos for you – just gimme some more time… 🙂

=> Showtime again today, yeehaaw! So let’s hope for good streaming ‘weather’ as in Amsterdam! On Twitter, #stonescopenhagen is the place to be!
=> Message from Mick: “So sad about Tom Petty, he made some great music. Thoughts are with his family.“
=> Message from The Rolling Stones: “The Rolling Stones send their deepest condolences to all those affected by the terrible shooting at Route 91 in Vegas“
October 2 – Kobenhavn dawning
=> The Stones are looking forward to play Kopenhavn tomorrow but won’t play any club-gig on this tour! Maybe bacause there were rumours about a club gig before tourstart or during this tour, the Stones just have issued the following statement on Twitter and Facebook: “The Rolling Stones are really looking forward to playing the Parken Stadium tomorrow night but want to make it clear to fans they will NOT be playing a club show in Copenhagen and there are no plans for any club shows on the current No Filter tour.” Source of this rumour maybe an article in the danish paper politiken.dk, where it is reported that some musicians from the band would play a jazz club on three nights. Well, they simply mistook Tim Ries’ “The Rolling Stones Project” for the original band. Uh-oh! So as you can see on nielslandoky.com, The Project is going to play Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Oct. 4 – 6 at 10:30 PM at The Niels Lan Doky International Jazz Collective at Hotel Danmark. All three dates seem to be already sold out…
October 1 – Amsterdam aftermath
=> Even judged from the streams at Periscope or Facebook – that show was definitely a good one! However, at least 3 newspaper reviews from the Netherlands see it somewhat different. They attest the Stones problems with their songs, which nowadays would be presented better by cover band than by the original band itself. Also they observe, that the guitar interplay is sometimes not really flawless… well, they might have a point here, because nobody can say, that a Stones concert in 2017 is not rolling and tumbling – they even sniff at some wrong chords or notes sometimes. On the other side – if you go to a Stones gig and expect sheer virtuosity and perfect interplay, you might as well play a record… Ok, that’s my 2 cts worth; have a look and judge for yourself:
nrc.nl – “De Stones willen wel, maar het lukt niet meer” // trouw.nl – “Als The Rolling Stones zelf dat beetje extra niet meer kunnen geven, doen hun nummers dat wel” // volkskrant.nl – “Monumentaal oeuvre en dito band kan moeilijk teleurstellen“

Soundcheck: the band played Rocks Off and Under My Thumb!
Doors open: 17.30h; Los Zigarros: 19:30h; The Rolling Stones: 21:00h
There’s an interview with Ronnie at lavanguardia.com although the article is in spanish, the interview-video is english. Yesterday, Ronnie also visited the Picasso museo in Barcelona, as El Periodico reports. He met the director of the museum, Emmanuel Guigon and presented his new art book, too.
September 26 – Stones in Barcelona!
=> Again a tough decision this time for the song-vote in the RS-App: choose from among Rocks Off / All Down the Line / Bitch / Live With Me… meanwhile, the Stones have landed in Barcelona…
See the report of the Daily Mail about the Stones arrival at the Barcelona airport, with focus on Ronnie, Sally and the twins: “That’s rock n’ roll, baby! Ronnie Wood, 70, cuddles his 15-month-old daughter while wife Sally, 39, scoops up her twin as they join him on Rolling Stones tour“
=> Until I finish the Lucca-show in videos, enjoy 2,43 minutes of a close-up of our very dear Mick Jagger, strutting his stuff to Midnight Rambler in Lucca, just recently… 🙂

Seems, THE STRUTS have already been playing now – I wouldn’t be surprised if the Stones begin a little late today …// Mick posted a video of his arrival in Lucca, as seem from his perspective… enjoy! 🙂 // Here’s a live cam by iltirreno.gelocal.it at the entrance – see the fans coming to the show… more coming up! … the weather looks fine!
September 22 – Zürich aftermath / Lucca approaching
=> Song vote for Lucca up on the app! Choose from among these: Let’s Spend The Night Together / Emotional Rescue / Bitch / Dead Flowers
=> The Stones delivered a strong, energetic show! Many fans believe that they performed better than in Hamburg. But that’s kinda normal – after the first three, four gigs, the engines are running smoothly. And frankly, I don’t recall any Stones gig, where ther was no rumbling and tumbling. In fact, that’s an essential part of the music, the Rolling Stones and we cherish so much, IMHO! Jambase got a nice review – and here is the Neue Zürcher Zeitung with Sünder, Teufel und Heiliger Geist (Sinner, Devil and Holy Ghost) or the “Le Temps” with The Rolling Stones à Zurich, le rock comme élixir de jeunesse éternelle…
=> Meanwhile, the band has arrived in Italy…

They are finally settling down comfortably in the tour modus… very nice interplay of the guitars, almost flawless, Mick sounded great and energetic, Charlie was down right awesome, Darryl was driving it hard and the brass section really delivered tonight! <<<==

And our friend Thomas has met Uli Schröder in Zurich – as you can see below from his pic he kindly shares with us.
September 19 – Spielberg: the show in videos / RS 4 sell / Recommended Read

Some pics from tonight – source is S?dwest Presse, pics by Sven Hoppe/dpa
=> The second gig of this tour tonight! I’m back from the beach here on holidays in France and very much look forward to tonight’s show and to share links, streams, pics as it unfolds. It will be interesting if and how they will shake up the setlist tonight. Hopefully not too much. Although they usually cut down the number of songs to 10 per gig, let’s hope they keep their stamina and don’t shorten the list just yet.
Oh, BTW, have you heard about the rumours, that the Stones are going to headline the Knebworth 2018 festifal? – well that’s what the NME thinks and it is plausible: the band plans a tour in the UK for 2018, so go figure …
September 11 – Successful tourstart / Next stop: Munich
=> The Stones earn best critics for their tourstart! augsburger-allgemeine.de: Superlative – Rolling Stones rocken beim Tourauftakt in Hamburg | rollingstone.com: “See Rolling Stones Dust Off ‘Dancing With Mr. D,’ ‘Play With Fire’ at Tour Opener – Band also digs out “Under My Thumb” for first time in decade at No Filter Tour opener in Hamburg, Germany”
September 10 – Hamburg aftermath
=> It’s ready: the Hamburg show in videos!! Have fun, everybody!
=> Again: Woah! Great tourstart! They really had balls to mix up the setlist so much. For fans, this was one gig to be remembered for a long time and took it’s place among the top 5 ever witnessed. For the visitors – and that’s the overwhelming part of the 82.000 last night – some of the songs were a mystery and only got mild receptions whereas Sympathy, Miss You and of course Satisfaction got the crowd jumping. That’s the same whenever the Stones play to larger crowds. But for us fans, this setlist really was a gift and pure joy! Dancing with Mr. D, SFTD as opener, 2 songs from Blue&Lonesome, Play With Fire – the fans were in heaven. The Rolling Stones played for 2 hours and 20 minutes!
– I’m working on a “The show in videos”-file to be published today even if not every song has appeared at YouTube.
– As for the Periscope mystery: people reported about a too small bandwidth for streams to upload. Can you believe it?? It’s a mammoth production and they plan and build this up for months in advance and then don’t get a decent bandwidth working? We even got scopes out of Peru! And Hamburg 2017 is not able to get the bandwidth handled?? C’mon… This leaves me speechless, even if the venue was out on a field. We can expect this to be better with the upcoming venues in stadiums or arenas.
– Here are some of the press coverage and some more pics (credits in the flyout title-tags):

September 9 – Tourstart today!! YeeeeHaaw!
=> So that was one of a tour starter! A very impressive setlist by a very impressive band. I’m proud of them and proud to be a fan! The fact that there was not 1 Periscope stream from just 1 of the 82.000 people at the gig is really weired. And it was sad to see this setlist grow without hearing it live. But just wait and see, after 2 days we will hopefully see and hear the songs at YouTube. What a band! Great, great start! Now on to Munich!
- Sympathy For The Devil
- It’s Only Rock’n’Roll
Mick: “Es ist gro?artig, nack z?nn Jarren wieder in Hamburg zu spielen.” - Tumbling Dice
- Out Of Control
Mick: “We are gonna do a couple of songs from Blue & Lonesome” - Just Your Fool
- Ride Em Down
- Play With Fire
- You Can’t Always Get What You Want
- Doo Doo Doo – Heartbreaker – Dancing With Mr. D
- Under My Thumb (song vote)
- Paint It Black
- Honky Tonk Woman
Band introductions - Slipping Away
- Happy
- Midnight Rambler
- Miss You
- Street Fighting Man
- Start Me Up
- Brown Sugar
- Satisfaction
Encores - Gimme Shelter
- Jumping Jack Flash
One Facebook live link! MARC was on Periscope – see 1:44 of really good sounding KALEO!
=> Mick just tweeted: “Checking out wardrobe for tonight’s show, you ready Hamburg?” Schwoenk [IORR] says, that the support act, Kaleo, has started and that the sound is really good.
=> Doors open since 2 PM, weather still rainy and chilly. Rain has stopped again, hopefully it remains dry for the gig. Have fun, everyone!!
=> And again it’s the day for the tourstart for the Rolling Stones No Filter Tour! All eyes are on Hamburg tonight. Weather conditions are chilly and a little wet, but the forecast and Keith’s Voodoo stick promise a dry but cool evening. So let’s hope for a fine showday and some nice periscope streams for all of us who couldn’t make it to the show. Like me – I’m on holidays in France but will there for news and pics and links and scopes today. Can’t wait! 🙂
September 8 – Soundcheck!
=> The band took the stage last evening and did the soundcheck with Under My Thumb, Play With Fire, Tubling Dice, IORR, Just Your Fool (Yess!) and Ride ‘Em on Down (YessssYess!)! Go check out what Andrzej Los posted on YouTube!
September 7 – Tension is rising / Song vote
=> Just 2 days to go! This is so great! Yesterday evening, the band went to the venue – maybe for a dress rehearsal and/or for checking the stage and lightshow – see the pics below. The press is aiming at the gig, more and more as we approch the day of the tourstart: here is Die Zeit, Focus magazine and the Hamburger Morgenpost about the Stones in town and the stage. See a picture of the video-towers (pic by dpa/Christophe Gateau), the stage and the map of the venue with information of how to get to your seats. Have a look at the video by Andrzej Los showing the 4 large lightshow-towers. If you have the Stones App, you can now vote for one of 4 songs as usual during the last Stones tours!

September 6 – just 3 days to go!
=> Ok, rehearsals are finished and the Stones have landed in Hamburg with their B767 yesterday evening. They then went straight to their hotel, the Hotel Park Hyatt. The Hamburger Morgenpost has some infos on this, as does the shz.de . The stage is still beeing built up. Sadly, one of the staff fell down from the stage construction about 6 to 8 meters. He had to be taken to hospital but is on his way to get better.
As for the stage, here are 2 YT videos giving you some impression form the stage as it is about now (see below) and from the construction dated September 3.

September 3 – Rehearsals finished, 10 lucky fans, off to Hamburg
=> The band has left the rehearsals studio in London. During the last days, some fans were outside waiting to see or hear anything. And then came, what has happened before: 10 lucky fans outside the venue were invited inside and joined the rehearsals! For me, that would be an absolute dream come true!! When they were inside, the band ‘rehearsed’ JJF and Brown Sugar – so they plaed it safe, hehehe… but nevertheless, the fans were in heaven! And some still are, among them Bjornulf Vic, the hoster and founder of the IORR fansite. The Stones are on their way to Hamburg now. Only 6 days to go, YEEEHAAWWWW! <
August 31 – No Filter Tour Merch starting within hours… win tickets for Paris
=> In about 18 hours, the Stones will start their tour merch sale! Check out the Stones No Filter store and have alook or two… also: a little down that page, you can enter your data and if lucky, you’ll win a trip to Paris for the last date of the No Filter Tour 2017.

August 30 – Rehearsals – getting into gear – only 10 days to go!
=> Yeeehaaww!! The tour is coming closer now! Exitement is rising! Yes and the band gets into gear and shape for the tour. Right now, they are in London for rehearsals. Thankfully, we have some pics tweeted by Ronnie (see below), Mick and Keith to give us a taste like it is at the LH2 studios in London where they rehearse. Yes, I like what I see!!
August 28 – Ronnie and his girls at rehearsals
=> Ronnie tweeted nicely again from rehearsals. He got his 2 lovely girls at the studio saying in order to “Starting tem early…” – indeed! What a cute pic! Not very much information from rehearsals apart from this, but I’ll keep my eyes open. Ronny also started practicing again with the beginning of this month. He tweeted a short exerpt of his playing with the note “Trying to get my sticky fingers back into gear” – enjoy!
August 23 – Rehearsals have started
=> It’s one picture we all just love so dearly: that’s when the sign at Charlie’s drumkit says “Open!” instead of “Closed!” And that’s just what we can see below on the pic which Bernard Fowler shared on Facebook today! Meanwhile, we know, thanks to Patty Hansen, that Keith, too, is on his way!
August 17 – Rehearsals start next week / Opening for the Stones in Austria: KALEO from Iceland!
=> Rehearsals are going to start next week! Ronnie spoke to Steve Wright on BBC Radio 2 and said: “We are starting to rehearse next week, we always love that. Really, it’s like a family reunion, a meal that goes on for about a month then we go out on the road. … We concentrate and its hard work. It’s a conscious effort on all of our parts, right from rehearsal. … Next album is ongoing, we have some in the bag and I think now we’re getting together again we’ll see what direction things are going to take.” Go to BBC online and hear Ronnie talking about the next album! He also commented on Elvis’ passing away 40 years ago. Also, elkodaily.com has a notice about this.
=> Icelandic rock band Kaleo and John Lee Hooker Jr. will open for the Rolling Stones in Spielberg in Austria in September. Guitarist Rubin Pollock: “It?s just crazy, unreal really. I started laughin when I heard about it, thought it was kind of funny … It?s incredibly fun, getting to open for the biggest rock band of all time.” See icelandmonitor.mbl.is for some more fun remarks about this.
August 8 – Ronnie’s luck
=> Lucky once again and hopefully once and for all! Our dear Ronnie tells about his cancer diagnosis… As you can see below, May 25, we already know that Ronnie luckily escaped a deadly diagnosis of lung-cancer. But now he tells the story himself, and it is told with raw honesty. See rollingstone.com and/or dailymail.co.uk for this.
August 4 – Fonda Theatre 2015 to be released September 2017
=> Sticky Fingers @ the Fonda 2015 to be released September 29 as DVD, DVD+CD, Blue-Ray, DVD+3LP! What a band! Just ahead of this year’s european No Filter tour, with the next tour of the UK ahead next year and a new album right now in the making, plus the release the Their Satanic Majesties Request, we are truly blessed with the longevity and creative stamina of these guys we all love so much. So during the upcoming tour, we will see the release of the gig at the Fonda Theatre, where The Rolling Stones played for once the whole of the album Sticky Fingers plus some more songs. Enjoy the teaser below! Some details/tracklists: rollingstones.com
