December 21 – Tour 2013!?
Mick was interviewed by Norwegian TV station MPJ yesterday. Mick’s answer was, that they are open for a world tour NEXT year. (They already had explained, that the true birthday of the Rolling Stones was in 1963 when Charlie joind the band.).
However, no plans have been fixed yet. But everyone in the group feels very positive about this. [thx harlem shuffle, iorr]
Actually, this statement of Mick is not really new and the fact, that all members have already said similar things in this context, makes the decision to tour next year really a no-brainer, IMHO. Nevertheless – it’s good to hear Mick’s opinion and I have no problem to hear this again and again, hehehe…
December 17 – What’s coming up next?
Alright folks, what a night it was! Both Newark shows really rocked. Right after the PPV show, the Stones and some 150 guests threw a relaxed after show party. Guests included Mick’s girlfriend L’Wren Scott, Ronnie Wood and fiancée Sally Humphreys, Mick’s daughter Jade Jagger, Dave Grohl and Keith’s wife, Patti Hansen.
What will happen next? Have this finally been the last Rolling Stones shows? Actually, I doubt it very much. Just remember, already before the Paris rehearsals all Stones were enthusiastic about playing together again. Much more so during and after the rehearsals.
Coming up next I expect the Stones to get some holidays with their families for christmas and the new year. Then, next year, they will meet again and decide what to do next. I think, some more shows like the ones we have just seen are highly probable for next year. But then, as always, nothing is official until the Stones themselves announce it. So for now, we can hope and must wait for the things to come… all signs so far give us good reasons to expect more of the 50 Years And Counting Tour!

HAVE FUN EVERYONE!! As we are approching showtime, here are some pics we can thank L’Wren Scott for showing pics from ‘on our way to the gig’, backstage impressions and pics from the rehearsals. These pics could be from a handy and show the screen of a monitor – but they catch the athmosphere and are somewhat intimate – so although their quality is not too good, I really like them. You can easily spot John Mayer, Bruce Springsteen and Lady Gaga… [Thx for the tip RubyFriday! shd]
Ok, today is showtime again. As this time it is PPV’ed and streamed all over the planet, it could be I will give the setlist a few hours later than live – remember it’s about 2am in the morning over here when the show starts…
Meanwhile, Mick Taylor has given an interesting interview to billboard.com; he mentions, that the Stones began working on
“Can’t You Hear Me Knocking” before Thursday’s show in New Jersey, but he wasn’t sure if it would be performed at Saturday’s show. Maybe we are lucky and get Mick Taylor with the Stones both Midnight Rambler and “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking“!??! Here are the few most important lines for us (for the details, go to billboard.com).
“I think the Stones have always done things their own way, and they will always continue to do things their own way … I think everybody is having a good time on stage. It’s more than just nostalgia. I think they just feel re-energized and possibly very enthusiastic about doing things in the future. I just have an intuitive feeling that if they want to do some more shows, they can. There’s no reason why they shouldn’t be able to. … (The rehearsals for the London shows:) It’s been really amazing, thrilling and exciting,” he notes. “It’s been great to play with the band again. I still get the same feeling that I used to get when we played on stage before. I’m a lot more outgoing and not quite as shy as I used to be, so in that respect it’s different. I feel re-energized by the experience, too.
Lady Gaga visited the Stones backpage yesterday and tweeted that pic of her and the boys. There were (dress-)rehearsals going on for sure!

Officially announced: John Mayer will be joining the band on stage tonight! See also Rollingstone.com for more on this.
The Stones came on and played You Got Me Rocking and Jumpin’ Jack Flash! Mick said: “It’s really wonderful to be part of this … This has got to be the largest collection of English musicians ever assembled in Madison Square Garden … But if it rains in London, you’ve got to come help us, OK?”
Some good report at the LA Times!
December 12 – Stones on 12/12/12 today- Jagger’s top 10 on Letterman – Vote for PPV-songs – Charlie’s Gaga
(Pic thx to Bjornulf! Trucks arriving at the Prudential Center)
The Stones will join the 12/12/12 concert for Sandy Relief tonight. A possible (!) schedule could be: 9:09-9:24 Eric Clapton; during the set change: Chelsea Clinton & Jimmy Fallon; then about 9:29-9:44 The Rolling Stones. That show will be broadcast live to about 2 billion people, worldwide! 7:30 PM ET Today.
Click here to see where the streams can be seen near you.
=> The Rolling Stones have published a list of 12 songs for which you can vote. Everybody has 1 vote, it is told. These are the songs and choice is both yours and not at all easy:
Around And Around / Beast Of Burden / Dead Flowers / Far Away Eyes / If You Can’t Rock Me / Let It Bleed / Rip This Joint / Rocks Off / Shattered / She’s So Cold / Street Fighting Man / You Got Me Rocking
=> Keith has had this to say in an interview for the current issue of NME about the possibility of a Glastonbury gig of The Rolling Stones:
“That’s a good one,” he says of the Glastonbury rumour. “I’m really going to be guilty here of leaving that one up in the air. I mean I’d love to. But look, I don’t know anything about next year at the moment, I really don’t. We’re just getting this year under our belts. But anything’s possible, that’s all I can say about it. But if it could happen, I’d love to.“
=> Charlie has some (short of course) comments on Lady Gaga’s date with the Stones for the PPV: (In that same article, it is said, that Mick Taylor also will join in on the PPV.)
“I think Mick said she wanted to do it without any of that (glitz and glam), which would be fun actually… But I don’t mind if she dresses up in whatever. He does, so why shouldn’t she? … I’ll tell you, some of Mick’s outfits are Lady Gaga…“

December 10 – PPV guests announced
Bruce Springsteen, Lady Gaga and the Black Keys will appear with the Rolling Stones December 15th at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, as part of a concert that will be telecast live on pay-per-view as “One More Shot.”
Well, to many fans, (to me at least) this combination appears kind of odd, at first. After a second thought, though, I’m sure it is just the PPV which has influence here: in order to address more than just the Stones fans and to broaden the target group, these choices are quite understandable. Springsteen and Gaga both have HUGE fan bases! However, just from the Stones point of view, Mick Taylor, Bill Wyman and Eric Clapton would be prefered, I guess. But let’s wait an see whether there are some ‘surprise guests’ besides the special guests …

December 7 – Official: Stones lined up for 12/12/12″!!!
We hoped for it and it truly seem to fit in – and now it’s official: The Stones are going to join the 121212 The Concert For Sandy Relief!
The producers of “12-12-12” which will be broadcasted live and providing viewing access nearly two billion people across the world through various platforms, announced today that The Rolling Stones will join the esteemed line-up of artists performing at Madison Square Garden on December 12, 2012.
The concert event will feature an all-star musical line-up including Bon Jovi, Eric Clapton, Dave Grohl, Billy Joel, Alicia Keys, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Eddie Vedder, Roger Waters, Kanye West, The Who and Paul McCartney. “12-12-12” is presented by Chase and all proceeds will benefit the Robin Hood Relief Fund.
December 6 – PPV Stream – Keith talks about money – Mick Taylor pics
=> The PPV December 15, 2012 from the Prudential Center is going to be streamed live for you. So in case, you don’t have access to sat TV or something, you could choose to get the stream here live as well as for 30 days on demand after the event. You have to register and pay some bucks or quids or € depending from where or whioch country you log in. The fee differs from $40.- right down to US$ 4.99 – for me, it would be $15.- … If interested, go to rs50.neulion.com
=> The Stones ain’t driven by money! Didn’t we know it? Hehehe, Keith gave some comments about this you can read in the SunDaily from Malaysia. What particularly caught my eye, though, was that wunderful picture of a stubborn Keith from ca. 1978 – 1980…
=> And while we’re at it: here is another positive article from the NY DailyNews: The Rolling Stones are hotter than ever at 50. Summary: This really could be the last time the band tours and no other current group plays their brand of straight-ahead rock.
December 5 – Special Guests for Saturday – PPV 4 U – nice report
=> The Rolling Stones will be joined again by Mary J. Blige on this Saturdays gig in Brooklyn. It could well be, that she will show up for Gimme Shelter again. First time to join them on stage though will be blues guitarist Gary Clark Jr., most probably in the spot where Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton showed up before. Whether Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor will be there again is still not officially known, although it semms quite likely for Mick Taylor.
=> The Rolling Stones in concert live on pay-per-view: Sat., December 15, 9E/6P
is going to be broadcast all over the world. So if you have or can access sat TV, go to the Stones Homepage and check which channels within your reach are going to share the show!
=> A nice report form the second London gig can be found on rock backpages writers’ blogs from Mat Snow: The Stones: it’s all about the legacy
December 4 – E! will tease PPV – Nice find: interactive map of all Stones tours! – Articles
=> E! will air a special before the PPV show and final night of the Rolling Stones’ 50 & Counting anniversary shows at Newark.
The one-hour special, dubbed “Live From the Rolling Stones,” will air on December 15 and feature behind-the-scenes access to the show and exclusive interviews with Mick, Keith, Charlie and Ronnie. More info: LaTimes.com
=> This is fun! Go to this site and scroll through all the tours the Stones have done from their first British Tour in 1963 up to the 2005 Bigger Bang Tour!
=> Recommended: “Sometimes I despise Mick Jagger” – This is what Keith says (among other things) in an article to read at nme.com.
December 3 – Rehearsals – 12/12/12? – 2 videos – D&G remix – choir got satisfaction
It could well be, that the Stones are rehearsing for the three US shows at SIR studios in NYC, 25th street. When we know for sure, I’ll of course let you know. Chuck Leavell is in NY right now already.
We still have no information on whether the Rolling Stones will join the 12/12/12 concert for Hurricane Sandy Relief – I personally conider a short two or three song set well possible.

November 30 – second london gig – reviews & videos
Ok folks, I’m just beginning to digest the news and videos which have sprung up so far, but there’s one thing I can tell you, and that’s beyond any doubt: all worries about Keith not beeing able to cope with a tour and playing his thing are wiped off the board. That goes for the others, too! Mick seems like 40 years, Charlie is laying down the beat as solid and cool as ever and Ronnie is sober since three fucking years and you can hear that! OMG, folks, we’re looking forward to more beautiful shows coming up this year in the USofA, and if this is continued into next year 2013 (which it will!) – it’s going to be horrific! If this somehow really would be their last tour – I can die a happy man! (But there’s the 60th anniversary already approching, hehehe …)
All reports from fans who have been there – young, middle and old, agree with these gigs as really special, inspiring and supprising. As we know the Stones, we know that the more gigs are played, the better and tighter the band gets. So then, folks: we’ve only just started!

=> If you want to see the complete tour opener on YouTube, you have two possibillities:
(1) Click on this link and get the songs as a playlist on YouTube
(2) Click on this link and get the videos listed one after the other on one page
ENJOY!
=> After Mary J. Blige, tomorrow Florence Welch of Florence and the Maschine as well as Eric Clapton will join the Stones on stage! That’s official (see The Mirror, for example). Florence will duet with Mick on Gimme Shelter. And Eric, well, Champagne & Reefer would be possible. But I would prefer to hear Eric solo on Little Red Rooster – I always get goosebumps all over when hearing his solo on this track at Atlantic City…
That beeing said – the question “what about Mick Taylor?” comes to mind. So far he has not been dropped off the guestlist; so let’s see if he too gets on stage again tomorrow.
=> The Stones played 35 minutes too long on Sunday: they are fined £200,000 for breaking curfew. See NME.com for this for exampla. What’s wrong with these Brits, huh? Well, the band won’t become broke because of that, hehehe…
November 27 – Taylor at all shows, Review, Mick’s dress rehearsal, M. Rambler #2
=> Mick Taylor could well have his guest spot on all 4 shows to come! Though this is not officially confirmed yet, if true, that would be very good news indeed!! [thx Fred! SDB] So far, Mick Taylor’s official site only talks about the two London shows. But after the first gig went so well and was welcomed so much by the fans, it just would seem natural to expand his guest spot over to the US gigs, right? If you ask whether Bill Wyman also would join the US shows: Bill’s afraid of flying! We have to convince him first, hehehe …
=> Recommended read: Are they really the world’s greatest rock ’n’ roll band? The Beatles were more creative, the Velvet Underground more radical. But the mythic power of the Rolling Stones trumps them all, says Neil McCormick…
=> Nice find: Dress rehearsal with Mick Jagger and L’Wren Scott! LONDON — It is 48 hours before the Rolling Stones kick off their “50 & Counting: The Rolling Stones Live” tour and a fiercely focused, articulate Mick Jagger is talking about clothes in an exclusive interview with WWD. So, too, is Jagger’s longtime paramour, L’Wren Scott. After a decade together, it is the first time they’ve ever done a joint sit-down for publication. Read on…
=> And here it is: I came across another video of the phenomenal and long awaited re-union of the Stones with Mick Taylor, playing Midnight Rambler. Here is the same piece as you have hopefully already noticed below – but from a different angle – thx roby [IORR]. It’s an audience shot, of cause, but also quite good! Enjoy!!

November 26 – The Press, reviews, Midnight Rambler With Taylor!
There’s a NEW DOWNLOAD for you: The BBC One Show with the Rolling Stones (November 23rd 2012) – running time: 29 minutes; format: AVI, size: 247 MB. [thx Norbert, IORR]
Just right-click above on the first entry on the right side under “Stonesnews Downloads”. Enjoy!!!
The Stones tourstart has gathered a lot of press, mostly positive! – Very interesting is, that two songs were on the official setlist, but weren’t played: Lady Jane and Satisfaction. You can see that setlist on the left – click for a bigger picture. Reason for this could be, that they simply ran out of time… it surely wasn’t exhaustion, hehehe …
Ok, here come some of the reviews: Rolling Stone: Tour Blast Off, The Sun: 20,000 see the Stones roll back the years and of course the BBC: Still the leading pack
Here’s a short exerpt of the review from Neil McCormick, Telegraph:
Richards and Ronnie Wood look like a pair of cadaverous buzzards, perhaps waiting for their hyperactive frontman to keel over. Standing side by side, Richards kept peaking over to see what Wood was playing, those guitars weaving together in mesmerising fashion, Woods flashier and faster, Richards sensitive and deft, while Watts pounded out the groove. It is at this intersection of showbiz flashiness and wild rock that The Stones enter a realm of their own. Sympathy For The Devil was phenomenal, Tumbling Dice a rip roaring treat, Jumping Jack Flash a rocking blast.
Ah, finally we have quite some videos to see and hear from this GREAT show! So please let’s thank all who uploaded and shared! Especially toomuchforme [IORR] for sharing MIDNIGHT RAMBLER with Mick Taylor!!!! Yeeehaaaw!
November 25 – Tourstart – 2:18 h – 23 songs: not bad for a bunch of old farts!
=> First review or report I’ve come to know while the show is still running (!): Aftonbladed: Här firar Rolling Stones 50 år som band
=> OK, the first two songs are from the 60ies aera – paying tribute to the time when it all started … Mick: “How’s everyone in the cheap seats?” – OMG – british humor, hehehe … WILD HORSES: Mick’s intro: “For all the graceless ladies …” // Jeff Beck just joins in! Mick: “Another special guest, this time one of our contemporaries, Mr Jeff Beck” // Mick after One More Shot: “That was good, the first time we’ve ever done that live! A kind of baptism of fire!” On D&G: “This one we’ve done a few times” // After Tumbling Dice Mick said: “Starting to warm up a bit now, starting to feel the heat. How you doing Charlie?” // At YCAGWYW: “You heard the choir singing, now you’re going to do some singing” // “You’ve been a fantastic audience, goodnight!” Hugs all around … as the fans leave, Cherry Oh Baby is playing on the speakers …
=> GREAT show and a huge tourstart it was! This should give them a good press and we all can very much look forward for the shows to come! Thanks for everyone involved!

Today is The Rolling Stones 50 Years And Counting Tour 2012/2013 start! We all have waited for 5 long, really long years to reach this date today! Reuters reports on the Stones Return. Mick tweeted: “So looking forward to the show tomorrow & jamming with all the guests. Hope I get everybody in the right order!“
=> update: Just now 30 tickets have been released for tonight’s show. If you need any and want to join the party, get them here.
What can we expect tonight? Well, we already know that Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor will join them on stage today, the first time the two ex-Stones have performed with the group in more than 20 years. Taylor’s guest spot alone it a dream come true to many, many fans who consider the Mick Taylor years of the Rolling Stones as the essential aera of the past 50 years of this band. And just yesterday, American R&B singer-songwriter Mary J. Blige and guitar hero Jeff Beck have also been added to the lineup as special guests.
This will result in about 2 hours of playtime and likely more than 20 songs beeing performed. In just some hours, we will have the first setlist of this tour and lots of other informations will be posted on this page here as well as on the tour page, so please ceck this pages here for new infos coming in and reload it from time to time… Let’s have a blast today! Yeehawww!
November 23 – London rehearsals!
According to reports from fans in London, the Stones had a tight rehearsal yesterday [thx BV, IORR]. Tight and strong because they have reportedly banged out up to 25 songs. This is, what they call a production rehearsal. So not only can we expect and enjoy Mick Taylor and Bill Wyman to join in on stage, but there is also plenty of songs which were not played so often before. They practised song after song, almost without breaks inbetween. Keith apparently also did 2 songs, “Before They Make Me Run” and “Happy”.
Warning: Spoiler! Below, you can call for more details of the rehearsals as I know them so far. So if you would like to keep the surprise until Sunday, just don’t click it, hehehe …
November 22 – Win tickets for the London O2 show this Sunday!
At the Guardian.co.uk site, you can win tickets for the show next Sunday, if you’re a resident of the UK and aged 18 and over. In case you enter, lots of good luck to you!!!
November 21 – BILL & MICK @ London gigs! New controversial (?) video for Doom & Gloom!
==> UPDATE: Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor are listed for the “50 Years And Counting-TOUR 2013” gigs in London, O2 Arena!!! They are listed as SPECIAL GUESTS and this is OFFICIAL! Mick Taylor’s site approves this, too.
WOAH! How cool is that?!!??? And: there will be no support act for these concerts – The Rolling Stones plan to perform for over two hours and they want to deliver a stunning show.
Also: at ticketmaster.co.uk final tickets for London are released!
==> The Stones have filmed the footage behind closed doors in a Paris warehouse to promo their latest track, ‘Doom and Gloom’. The video was directed by Jonas Akerlund and features award winning Swedish actress Noomi Rapace, star of the cult movie ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’.
The results are bound to shock some ….and please others – which is in perfect Stones manner, of course. Rather like the character in the movie, Noomi plays a punk wild child who not only joins the Stones performance, she also goes in for some rather splendid rock n roll ‘trash the place’-type behaviour… all in the best possible taste, including an exploding head, topless hitchhiking and burning dollar bills.

November 20 – cocksucker review, Invitation for Sandy Benefit, The Grrr!-Top10, APP-solutely!
=> RECOMMENDED: David Fricke, senior writer of Rolling Stone magazine, reviews the screening of “Cocksucker Blues”, Robert Frank’s film about the Rolling Stones’ 1972 tour of North America
Gritty, tedious, funny, nauseating, thrilling and merciless: Cocksucker Blues, Robert Frank’s film about the Rolling Stones’ 1972 tour of North America, may be the most complete rock & roll documentary ever made. It is also the greatest Stones film most of their fans have never seen – at least never seen right, in a full-size theater with blow-you-back sound (when it counts, in the concert scenes), surrounded by a gasping, nervously chuckling audience…
Read more!
=> According to Rolling Stone, the band has been invited to join the line-up for the Sandy Benefit Concert 12-12-12. That’s almost colliding with their second gig at Newark which is a PPV, you know and of course there will be dress rehearsals before that show. Here’s what Rolling stone reports:
The Rolling Stones are playing in Newark the day after the concert. Might they stop by? “There’s been talk of that,” says John Sykes, President of Clear Channel Entertainment Enterprises. “The challenge is they have a full-blown dress rehearsal on the 12th or the 13th because their Pay Per View special is on the 15th. But, yeah, there have been conversations with them. Mick and Keith came out for the Concert for New York City 11 years ago and played on their own. They’re well aware of the show and certainly have been invited to be part of it in any way, shape or form of the band.”
=> Grrr! has entered the charts: #3 in the UK, #4 in NL, #1 in DE!
=> Since today, the Rollng Stones have their own APP for iPhone up for free download on Apple’s App Store. So far, it’s iPhone-only, but other plattforms will follow, soon. And what’s it about? Well, the app offers the usual mix of news, tour dates, photos, ticketing, competitions and social features, as well as the ability to listen to sample clips of the Stones’ back catalogue, and – guess what – buy it from iTunes. So far, so good.
However, there’s an exclusive paid-for section which you can unlock with an in-app purchase of £0.69 – and then, there are not only exclusive video interviews and performance footage but also a feature for fans to vote for their favourite track to be played at one of the gigs, too. Now, that sounds much more interesting, right? More infos: musically.com, hollywoodreporter.com

November 13 – next official bootleg released, Stones @ BBC
Heads up for one more shot, folks – and there is a lot more ammo in the magazine, I tell ya 😉
We can expect another release from the Rolling Stones archives and this time it is the last gig of the 1981-82 tour: Roundhay Park in Leeds.
This was also and sadly the last gig the Stones played with Ian Steward, the unvergotten boogie boogie pianist and founding member of the band. Ian died in 1985.
Here’s the setlist and a link to YouTube to give you an idea of this new rocking release.

November 12 – BROOKLYN Confirmed!! – What can we expect?
We have the official confirmation, that the rumoured gig on December 8 at Barklays Center, Brooklyn, will take place!
TICKETS will be available at rollingstones.com/50-and-counting/. PRE-Sale will take place this Wednesday, 14th November, 10am EST! Good luck everyone! See also blogs.nytimes.com, rollingstones.com
We have more details for the upcoming gigs and next year! Mick and Keith have talked more about the things we can expect to happen next. The Stones have ended their rehearsals in France and have flown over to the US for some press work. As for the upcoming shows, the Stones might strip down to a simple R’n’B lineup – i.e. not too much brass; maybe only Bobby plus some background singer (Bernard and Lisa) and the rest is done by the guitars. That’s just how we like it, right? Keith mentioned, that Charlie had suggested to keep it simple, stripped down (bless you, Charlie!) and Keith is said to have answered: “Charlie, you realize how much pressure that puts on the guitar lineup?” – HILARIOUS! Keith: “OK, you want the blues band, you want the rock ‘n’ roll, stripped down? You’re going to get it. It’s going to be fun, man.“
And 2013? Can we expect more dates to be added? Mick seems to be a bit cautious: “I suppose you could say, yeah.” Keith for one is just happy that the band is rolling again, but he adds: “It’ll be great, playing London and New York. The rest of it, it’ll happen. Don’t worry about it.“. So, Keith says, we don’t have to worry about it! And that’s alright with me, hehehe. [read more al billboard.com]
November 10 – Rehearsal yesterday, London is next!
Hi there, friends! Last night, our dear friend Angelo from Rockerparis sent us the last rehearsal setlist for France so far.
Man, folks – let’s apprechiate: by sheer enthusiasm is was possible to endure all kinds of difficulties in order to get us informed for all these days – folks standing out there in the open, outside of the place where the band rehearsed – and obviously at any kind of weather – and giving us the list of songs rehearsed by the band day by day – so we can imagine what we can expect to hear at the 4 upcoming gigs in the UK and the US… tell me: ain’t that great?
Let’s get a huge cheer for all those involved so far and a BIG “thank you!!“
So, today, here we go again for a last rehearsal in France! Angelo told me, that the band left for some press duties to New York. After that, they are heading towards London and will meet up with Bobby Keys and probably Lisa Fisher for the last rehearsals before the O2 shows. Let’s hope for the London fans then, to keep us informed, right?

November 9 – FANS @ REHEARSALS!!! Hurricane Sandy Relief with the Stones?
UPDATE: Yesterday, some 40 fans waiting outside were invited in to witness the ongoing rehearsals!
Can you imagine a dream come true? Really true? Well, here it is: 40 fans hanging out in the cold outside of the rehearsals place, were asked to come in and witness some of the proceedings there. Of course, they were asked to behave well, which they did, of course. And then happend what most of us all consider the ultimate Rock’n’Roll dream come true: sit down, see and hear as your favourite band loosely runs through those numbers in preparation of the forthcoming gigs. Whheeewww …
Please excuse me, I’ve got to mark that date in my eternal Stones calendar: November 8 – 40 of our friends are invited into the inner sanctum of the Stones spirit. So in case, Mick, Keith, Charlie, Ronnie, Darryl, Cuch and Bernard haven’t heard it yet: there’s approximately 4 millions about us hard core fans who would like to join! hehehe …
Ok – so I recommend you read the reports first hand: first is Bjøjnuf Vic – our beloved friend of the IORR domain. The fact that he made it down to France from Norway (the famous author of the IORR magazine – I have all those issues!) and not only that, but he was there at the right time in the right place … man, can you dig it?? Read it!
They got to hear Live With Me, One More Shot (3x), No Expectations, Worried About You, That’s How Strong My Love Is (multiple takes), Litte Red Rooster – [OMG!]
Then: have you seen all those rehearsal set-lists of lately? Well, they came from Angelo of Rockerparis, and he also has something to report, you bet! So go there and read his report!
On December 12, Madison Square Garden will host a benefit concert for hurricane relief, which will be administered by the Robin Hood Relief Fund. No tickets are available by now, but will go on sale, because that concert is confirmed. And as the Stones are in town by that time, they definitely will be asked to attend. Promoters are promising to release the lineup soon. I think that there is a definitive chance that the Stones will join the lineup. I’ll keep you posted! Read more at nj.com.

==> Rumors about a fifth date in the US on December 8! It’s still unconfirmed, but Roger Friedman from showbiz411.com is sounds confident:
“… now I can tell exclusively that a Barclays date has been worked out for December 8th. It’s the only open day in the busy Barclays schedule of Nets games. My sources say the announcement is imminent.” If this should really happen, then any announcement really must happen very soon. And I hope, there are more gigs coming up this year, let alone in 2013!

And now they are clearly playing around with lots of stuff from the back catalogue. Incredible! They rehearsed SWAY three times, woahh!! Once again, I’ld like to recommend that recent article from Rolling Stone to you, “Inside the Rolling Stones’ Reunion“, so in case you haven’t already read it, go there!
October 28 – next Club gig, PPV, Reviews, Vids
==> Apart from next gig (an invitation-only show for Paris-based investment company Carmignac Gestion at the Mogador Theatre in Paris on Oct. 29.), the recent buzz is about another club gig in Paris or near Paris; l’Olympia maybe? I’ll keep you posted!
==> Here’s the official info for the PayPerView: “Pay-per-view on Saturday, December 15 at 9pm ET. WWE®, the world’s pre-eminent provider of pay-per-view programming, in partnership with Dainty Group and Endemol, will be distributing and marketing the pay-per-view event entitled “One More Shot,” the band’s final performance of its 50th anniversary shows. The pay-per-view will be available through all cable, satellite and telco providers.”
One does not have to have foretelling talents to predict, that we will be able to get it on DVD some months later or just hours after the broadcast at a torrent site… 😉
==> Lucky were our friends who attended the La Trabendo gig on Thursday, because that gig went on just great! Just a few sentences from fan-brother Bjørnulf Vik (IORR) will give you the basic idea:
“This band will perform as long as they live. They will never wrap it up. That was my very strong thought halfway into the show. Don’t even think about it. Keith was stronger than on the previous tour. Mick as energetic as ever. Charlie banging the drums and keeping the pace as he has done for ages, with a smile in his face. And Ronnie, well Ronnie was pushed to the front of the stage two times by Mick tonight. Ronnie was shining. At one point, it must have been during the solo on “When The Whip Comes Down”, Mick was at the back with Keith, and I noticed Mick’s eyes said to Keith a thing only long time married couples and friends tell each others by the look – this is going great. I will never forget that look from Mick to Keith. A look can tell more than a thousand stories.“
So, you see: there’s more to be expected! Most of all, we all had some fears concerning Keith’s health and ability to play – well, obviously, that can be scipped and is just great! Good times ahead for us, folks!

Mick tweeted at 11:42 today: CAN’T WAIT FOR TONIGHT’S SHOW!
Ok: security is tight this time: No phones (any kind), I-pads, recorders, cameras, etc. were allowed – you can see this on the tickets and everyone could be searched by entering – would you risk to get your entrance denied because you carry a handy? I’m not sure I would…
We’re now about 30 min. into the show and they said it was supposed to be a short gig, like 45 minutes or something. But I bet, the boys will play longer… much more so when the gig goes well …

==> Doom & Gloom Videoshoot – No rehearsals yesterday, because the Stones did a video shoot. Mick twittered yesterday: “Had a great video shoot today doing Doom & Gloom with the band & Noomi Rapace, directed by Jonas Åkerlund. Be out in Nov, hope you like it”
October 24 – Stones tour Australia 2013? Mick & Keith speak
[UPDATE] Secret GIG – Paris is buzzing right now in expectation of some club gigs which could take place tomorrow and next Monday. The Mogador theatre (400 seats) was mentioned for next Monday. But they are booked by the Carmignac investment fund on October 29 and the Carmignac won’t give any comment. Next, radio DJ Zegut points towards it’s the Trabendo as a venue of a club gig tomorrow. The Trabendo again denies unless there’s a “last minute surprise”.
=> You see, we’re still only guessing by now, but we will soon know for sure! But it’s great to have that buzz again, folks, isn’t it?
[UPDATE] 2013 tour considered, Taylor, Wyman invited to join – yes, the Glimmer Twins gave an interview for the forthcoming issue of Rolling Stone and here’s what’s most important in a nutshell:
- Mick Taylor (quit 1974) and Bill Wyman (left 1993) are expected to join in as guests on a few songs
- Keith mentions, that “the stage is going to cost millions and millions” – and that is CLEARLY pointing towards more shows in 2013! He adds: “So without sort of saying definitely yes – yeah. We ain’t doing all this for four gigs!“
- Mick wanted the tour to be called “FUCK OFF!”, but apparently no one went for that. (I would, though!)
- “Doom and Gloom,” is made by Jagger – even the opening guitar riff!
- Ronnie is three years sober now, Keith also is drinking significantly less: “I gave up smack, I can give up anything. No big deal to me, I do it to impress other people. But if they come up with a great new drug, I’ll be the first one on it, believe me.“
According to the Brisbane Times, Mick told Fairfax Media: “Not this week, but I hope to come to Australia. I haven’t been there for ages. I’m really looking forward to it.“
October 23 – New Rehearsals in France! Setlist! Secret Gig???
Secret Gig planned???
[UPDATE] More rumors of two club gigs in Paris: Monday, October 29th seems probable as some fans have got invitations. Before that, there could be a gig this Thursday, October 25th! Some friends already are on their way to Paris to queue up: let’s wish them luck!!!
As always, when the Stones plan any official tour or string of gigs, they like to test the ground by playing a surprise gig in some little local club. As rehearsals continue and the first gig in London is drawing near, it just seems naturally that rumors about a secret gig, which should take place soon, i.e. by end if this month, pop up. This perspective, however, is both pretty exciting but also very foggy right now. But on the other hand, Ronnie himself is adding fuel to the fire!
There’s going to be little club gigs that we’re gonna surprise ourselves to do as well, we’ll bung a few in next week or the week after, so look out for any Cockroaches gigs or whatever! I don’t know who we’ll be billed as but we’ll turn up somewhere and put a few to the test. Tiny, 200, 300 people kind of places. [(nme.com)]
That points to Paris, most likely! So as the informations may come in, be assured that I will not hesitate to let you know!!!
The Rolling Stones are back in France and continue to rehearse! There are only very few news which would be as good as this one. And with many thanks to L’Angelo from Rockerparis, who just sent me this red hot setlist of the rehearsals from last and also this night!

October 22 – Ticket frenzy, Fans Fury
By now, the peak of the run for tickets is almost over; only Newark has left the General Tickets On Sale 12pm EST on 26th October. But alredy last week, re-selling platforms listed tickets for the shows with horrifying prices. Yup, we already had that subject (see October 17 below) – but now it’s an official headline like the one in the Daily Mail:
“Fury as Ticketmaster directs Rolling Stones fans to ‘sister site’ charging more than £15,000 a ticket
– Ticketmaster refutes claims of ‘ticket-touting’ saying they don’t set prices on market site Get Me In!“
Actually, one of those well known second-hand ticket sites contacted me two weeks ago and suggested a cooperation for ticket sellings if I would display their links on stonesnews.com here. I googled a little bit and then declined – which was obviously the right decision – I don’t want you to find links or even recommendations here for scalper’s tickets. For the ones lucky enough to have got tickets: concratulations! Please call some of us other folks during the show, now will ya? ;-))
October 20 – FB Newark Tickets, London’s O2: sellout in 7 minutes, CIM Trailer
==> The Stones FB-site reports this: Tomorrow morning at 9am EST we will post a link to a Facebook fan only pre-sale for the Newark shows, including 100 tongue pit tickets for each gig.
Use this code to get access to the sale: GRRRegoryUSA. => Ticketmaster
Check out the 10 nice and down to earth tips how to get tickets by the telegraph.co.uk, hehehe …
<== Seatmap of Newark (on the left here) from Ticketmatser.
==> Reports suggest that the cheapest seats, costing around £95, sold out within three minutes, while even the most expensive tickets (£375) had been snapped up seven minutes after going on sale at 9am this morning. => standard.co.uk | telegraph.co.uk

==> As you know, the Stones left France for London. Tonight is the premiere of the new Stones docu, “Crossfire Hurricane”. I’ll post the pics and news as they come in.
==> Ronnie: Stones will keep rolling! As the Belfast Telegraph reports, he said today that The Stones “won’t be able to stop” touring if their 50th anniversary gigs are a success. The band sounds “up to and above par” in rehearsals in Paris. “I can’t believe how well the band is sounding.” And he added: “Once this wheel is turning I don’t think it will be able to stop so hopefully the momentum it gathers by doing the O2 and the gigs in Newark, we won’t be able to stop.“
==> And we have a first review by the telegraph.co.uk: ” … Crossfire Hurricane is a highly entertaining, pungently nostalgic documentary about the career of “the world’s greatest rock and roll band … If you are a Stones fan, this film is going to blow you away.”
The second review comes from guardian.co.uk: ” … [] … In its own way, Crossfire Hurricane is just like one of those Stones albums of the last three decades: it’s fun, it has terrific moments, but in the end it pales in comparison with earlier triumphs.“
==> Keith gave an 11:49 interview to Absolute Radio – go and listen what the Riffmasta said: “Mind you it’s been a bit of a secret from me until about a week ago as to exactly what was happening. So it’s all been done a bit on the fly, but it sort of worked out I think. […] It’s amazingly fast. I was surprised how little rust was on the machinery, you know. We went straight into oiling.
‘But yeah, I think everybody was itching to go get on the road again or, you know, to get on stage and to play together. It’s a great feeling.’
October 17 – Ticket-prices, Light the Fuse!, Bobby Keys
==> Bobby Keys was interviewed at Rockhall.com! (thx Debbie, UC)
[UPDATE!] ==> Tomorrow, October 18, the Stones give away 2×100 tickets per London gig for their (uuh, 11 Million) Facebook-fans:
“Tomorrow morning at 9am BST we will post a link to a
Facebook fan only pre-sale for the London shows,
including 100 mosh pit tickets for each gig. Use this code to get access to the sale: GRRRegoryRS50“
==> Ok, so far it’s 4 gigs only, seats are few and of cause the price is high! That’s £106 up to £406 for London and the $$$ for the US shows are even higher.
That doesn’t hinder people to sell their (pre-ordered?) tickets on ‘second hand’ platforms like Seatwave or Viagogo. There you can find completly ridiculous amounts for FOS (FrontOfStage) tickets like £19,999 – no kidding! …
So please just take care! Even if we can’t afford to pay the official tickets, much less those dream-priced tickets from scalper’s favourite reseller platforms – relax: I’m sure there are more gigs coming up in 2013 and let’s not forget we’ll get the PayPerView from Newark, December 15th!
==> Officially released by Google Play: LIGHT THE FUSE! That’s just wonderful! This was the pre-Bigger-Bang-tour club gig in Toronto, 2005. That’s completely new stuff, with lots of gems thrown in! That interview with Keith just fits in here nicely:

October 16 – New setlists, Keith interview, Newark gets the PPV!!!
==> UPDATE – Thanks to a french friend over at Rockerparis, we have more information on the rehearsals which still go on in France. These setlists show what they played yesterday, Monday, October 15, and today, October 16. Pretty impressive!
==>
UPDATE – The Stones are leaving for London right now, so there will be no further setlists until next Thursday!

==> Listen to the interview Keith gave Matt Everitt of BBC6, 3:30 mins. about more than 4 gigs, Glastonbury and his joy of getting on the road again with the band: [thx sdb, BBJonny]
==> First, it was Brookly’s Barclays Center which was to get the Stones shows in December. Now it’s Newark’s Prudental Center. Ok, fine, but why did they change? Well, folks, we’re in for another treat:
The second Newark show will be a pay-per-view event, entitled “One More Shot,” running live on December 15 at 9 p.m. That’s one more shot of good news, now, isn’t it? It’s so great to be a Rolling Stones fan these days!
According to the New York Daily News [thx sdb, BBJonny], a source in the Stones camp said, that the pay-per-view element drove the decision to go with Prudential. “It wasn’t money,” the source says. “You need a certain amount of time to get in and set up the cameras for a big pay-per-view production. And it can only be done on certain days. The Prudential had those days of availability.”
There you go. Lot’s of videos, DVD’s, BlueRays and what not to be expected!
October 15 – GIGS CONFIRMED!!
It’s the “The Rolling Stones: 50 Years And Counting”-TOUR!!!
After months of speculations, Mick has confirmed that the boys will be back on stage for TWO nights at London’s O2 Arena this November!
Mick said: “Everybody loves a celebration, and London and New York are two good places to do it in!“
And Keith added: “Sorry to keep you all hanging around but the waiting is over. I’ve always said the best place for rock and roll is on the stage and the same is true for the Stones. I’m here with Mick, Charlie and Ronnie and everything is rocking. See you very soon!“
We also will see our boys at two shows at the Prudential Center, Newark, near New York, on 13th December and 15th December.

October 14 – Gigs confirmation?, Rehearsals in France, (again:) Glastonbury?
==> [update!] According to their FB-Site, Planet Rock Radio presenter Darren Redick is going to get a ring from Mick tomorrow, October 15, “for a big stones gig announcement“! There you go, folks, don’t we miss it! Darren’s show is on tomorrow at 14:00 London time! [thx SDB, BBJonny]
We also receive reports, that on Monday (tomorrow), the Stones will officially confirm the gigs at the O2 Arena, London, in October and in New York in December. Let’s see, if this really happens – would be cool, though!
==> The Stones are reported to rehearse in France since the beginning of October and rehearsals will continue for some weeks more. This is not taking place in Paris but on the countryside. Exactly where is not yet known, but both Mick and Charlie have residences in France, so that would be a likable possibillity.
Here is the setlist of rehearsals:
October 11 | October 12 |

|
Reported by the Rockerparis site, the Stones are rehearsing for the gigs to come – probably London in November, New York in December. The band also rehearsed Doom and Gloom as well as the yet to be published Keith song “One More Shot”. [UC, SDB, GGL, Rockerparis]
==> Already this year, Michael Eavis, who organizes the festival, desperatedly tried to convince the Stones to play the Glastonbury Festival. However, he failed. Now he goes again, asking the band for a gig in June 2013 and this time, it seems more probable!
October 12 – Doom + Gloom #1 in 12 countries, Tickets on sale this weekend?
Yeah, baby, looka here: the Stones are #1 in 12 countries again with their new single Doom and Gloom – that’s what iTunes tells us! Congratulations, lads: one shot in the right direction!
According to Roger Fredman at showbiz411.com, tickets for Stones concerts will go on sale as early as this weekend. Ticketmaster is going to sell them, it is said.
As likely as this may seem, given the exciting news from the last two days, so far, we don’t have any official confirmation for any date yet! So if you keep this in mind, let’s look for more news coming up soon, no doubt!
Guitar Dreams! => For all of you interested in the Stones guitar gear and not afraid of German: The current issue of the magazine Guitar Dreams (published twice a year) features a lot of Stones gear; for instance the 75 most important Stones guitars, the signed Vox Teardrop, Keith’s fivestring and lots more – recommended!
October 11 – Doom and Gloom out today!
The new single will be out today, so don’t miss it: on air at 8.15am BST on BBC Radio 2 and on iTunes!
==> !!! And here it is !!! Riff’s hard, Jagger shouts – I like it!!! <==

October 10 – the storm is rising! Bobby Keys hints towards more planned gigs!
Just after Keith gave us the best hint towards upcoming shows, gigs and something one culd call a ‘tour’, now texan fellow Bobby Keys himself gives us the next bit! He says that gigs will take place in November, two in England (that would be London, I think) and some more (!) in the US:
“We gonna do some more concerts, starting in November with two in England and then a couple here in the States, then there’s a few added concerts after that. Keith told me a couple months ago there was something in the wind and just be ready to go. I’m waiting for them to send me the plane ticket and the information, and then I’ll go.”
Then he also shares some more deeper thoughts about what we all know will happen:
“The reality is this train is going to pull into the last station pretty soon — I don’t know how soon. I’ve been saying this since 1980,” he notes with a laugh. “But I feel like it’s kind of winding down. This may be sort of the ‘Sayonara, see you later, had a good time, keep in touch.’ I don’t know that for sure. I haven’t officially been told anything…I just take my cue primarily from what Keith says, so we’ll have to see.”
See Billboard.com for the whole article, Ashley Hylbert’s Blog for this beautiful and more portraits of Bobby Keys! [ggl, sdb]
October 9 – More details on Keith’s gig announcement | New Single release | GRRR! Finally: the tracklist!
=> In addition to his announcement, that the Stones have some shows in London and New York, he states, that the magic of the band automatically comes up when they just spend some time together:
“Everybody relies upon their instincts. Especially once you start working regularly together again. Because it pulls all the bits and pieces together, which when you’re not working and playing with the guys, dissipates, obviously; you’re not having that immediate contact.”
=> The first airplay of the Stones new single, “Doom And Gloom” will be on Thursday 11 October at 8.15am BST on BBC Radio 2. At the same time, it will be available on iTunes for download!
=> Finally we get all the details of the upcoming GRRR!eatest hits collection.

October 8 – Keith announces Tour Gigs!
You can call this official! Keith has said, that there will be gigs in London and New York!! The only thing left to speculate now is as to WHEN these fucking gig will take place. Keith says in an interview with Q Magazine:
We’ve got some shows in London, I believe, and in New York, but I really can’t talk about any of that at the moment. They’ve put the gag on me on this. You can hint!
Now, NME.com has also picked up the story. Finally, it seems, we can be assured, that there will be gigs and what could be called a tour, because if they do just some gigs, they already need the nescessary production behind it – and once they have that, they are going to use is more than once or twice… you bet!
Please, watch this space as news about the tickets and dates come in!
October 5 – Stones in France for 1 month rehearsals!?
Just got this info: according to a french radio journalist, Francis Zegut, the Stones are in France for a month of rehearsals!
The big question now is of cause, how reliable this information is. Go to Zegut’s site and have a look for yourself. Sadly, he doesn’t give any more detail as to since when or even where the Stones are according to his knowledge. [uc, iorr]
Ok, Mick was in Paris, just 3 days before. Does that fit in? But if this is just a hoax, it will reveal itself as such within a short time. In any other case however, this is just great news! So watch this site for more infos coming in …
October 4 – Mirror starts tour-rumour again
British tabloid the Mirror has re-ignited the fire by hinting at a possible tour of the Rolling Stones. Re-telling the facts known so far (see below), the paper claims to have insider’s news for us:
“A little bird has told the Mirror Online that there is a strong chance of some dates being announced as early as next week.”
Sounds nice, right? Again: this is completly unconfirmed and the Mirror is not exactly what can be called a first class serious source, if you know what I mean. But then again, by now, most of us will catch at any straw within reach, right? 😉 [ggl]
October 2 – Mick in Paris
=> Mick has been spotted – along with L’Wren Scott – in Paris on Monday evening at an Obama Victory Fund cocktail party. Entry fee was a low $2.500 a head – that obviously doesn’t bother Mick. Seems Mick is a kind of democrat? The dinner was sold out in advance although priced at $10,000 a person. But celebrities in Paris don’t mind it seems, and a lot of celebs were there.
Get more details at dailymail.co.uk if interested. [ggl]
October 1 – The drug bust and MI5/FBI, Stones tease us?
The drug bust and MI5/FBI => That famous drug bust in Redlands 1967 was very early suspected to have been staged by the police, or, more precisely, the MI5 and the FBI. Now, it seems, this can be officially confirmed. Also in order to promote his new book “Mick Jagger“, Philip Norman, gives us more details on this part of the Stones history. Read more details at the dailymail.co.uk or spinner.com.
Mick Jagger by Philip Norman is to be published by HarperCollins on October 4.
Stones tease us? => On their facebook site, the Stones (or their online office staff) asks whether you have been at the last gig in London, O2 Arena, 26th August 2007. Now some media (stereoboard.com) asks whether this is just teasing of fans or maybe a hint for upcoming gigs in London… feewww, well, it could also be just a simple question, IMHO.
They also ask, if you were at the Licks Tour, because they just placed their tour documentary, “Tip Of The Tongue“, on YouTube:

September 27 – more cinemas to be added, Ronnie’s auction?
=> Seen the trailer of Crossfire Hurricane? Great isn’t it? Still, only Denmark, Malta and the Netherlands are listed with cinemas shoing the movie and the screening. However, the Stones have posted, that more cinemas will be added soon. They say:
The live streaming of the premiere will mainly be in Europe because of time differences, but there will be screenings in Mexico, so make sure you check back on to the Rolling Stones website for the latest info.
=> Amazing stuff from the “The Collection of Ronnie and Jo Wood” – but Ronnie denies having been involved in this! Having a closer look, you can read at juliansauctions.com:
The auction comes ahead of the launch of Jo Wood’s first autobiography. Her memoirs, which will be released in February of next year, will reveal her tales as a wife of a Rolling Stone. A portion of the proceeds from the auction benefits MusiCares, a nonprofit organization of The Recording Academy that provides emergency financial assistance and addiction recovery resources to music people in need.
That about gives us the picture. Ronnie not only denies any involvement, but also is angered when learning about the event. Ronnie and Jo are still the best of friends after their divorce, it was said – now this seems quite questionable. Kind of sad…
September 25 – first trailer of crossfire hurricane, Ronnie & Jo Wood auction
“Crossfire Hurricane” will simultaneously premiere at a host of 250 cinemas in the UK and Ireland on October 18 (according to NME.com). The multi-cinema screenings will also show Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood’s red carpet interviews as well as an interview with Brett Morgen.
=> Tickets for the screenings are on sale now at: rollingstones.com/crossfire-hurricane. The screenings begin at 6.15pm (BST) and will run for 150 minutes. Tickets are available for the UK (155 cinemas), Ireland (25 cinemas), Denmark (Copenhagen), Malta (Valetta) and the Netherlands (10 cinemas) – hope they add more countries, soon!
Just saw that short trailer. It’s only 1 minute something, but anyway –
here it is for you in case you haven’t seen it already:

=> Jo and Ronnie might need money (Ronnie needs to go on tour, really) or they just tidy up their possessions… however, at juliansauctions.com, you can flip through 191 pages of “The Collection of Ronnie and Jo Wood”. You can zoom the pages and actually read letters, postcards, see clothes, see fine art pieces, furnitures and much more. Here are some examples:
September 22 – Official gigs Denial, AR Campaign lauch and Ronnie Wood Years
=> Whereas we have all believed that at least 4 gigs were planned for this year in London and Brooklyn (see September 1st), the band has officially denied that these gigs are going to take place. They tweeted: “Dear fans, no Rolling Stones gigs have been confirmed or announced. Do not buy tickets from the SongKick website, or anywhere else.” Well, that is kind of dissappointing, but at least we have a clear statement on this. And that doesn’t mean, that there will be no gigs at all, right?
=> The Stones have launched the new AR campaign to promote the release of their hits-collection GRRR!. They call this “an exciting global campaign” and it comes together with a competition. They geo-tagged 50 cities and 3000+ locations around the world where you can point your handy camera and the GRRR!-King-Kong comes to life… The reactions to this campaign has met a weakly enthusiastic echo in the fanbase so far. More deatils on the APP can be found on the homepage.
=> The Rolling Stones Under Review 1975-1983: The Ronnie Wood Years Part 1 is set to be released on DVD on November 20th. This documentary film covers the Stones’ career and music between 1975 and 1983 and includes archive and exclusive interviews, contributions from the finest experts and writers, and rare and classic footage, all soundtracked by the music that, despite it all , remained ‘only rock ‘n’ roll! Details: hometheaterforum.com | musicnashville.com
September 18 – Charlie is my darling, red carpet, carnaby
On December 18 the band will publish their new documentary, “Crossfire Hurricane”, which will premiere in London at the BFI London Film Festival, and the band is expected to appear to this event and stroll over the red carpet. “Expected” doesn’t mean they will, to note, but a strong possibility is undeniable, right?
More details about the restored band docu “Charlie is my Darling” can be read at examiner.com; at billboard.com we get the following:
The world premiere of “The Rolling Stones Charlie is my Darling – Ireland 1965” takes place during the New York Film Festival on September 29 (Andrew Loog Oldham will be present for a Q&A); an encore screening of the film will be held on October 3 at 8:30 PM. Both screenings are scheduled for the Walter Reade Theatre. There will be another screening at the 92 Street Y in New York on October 5, which will feature a conversation between Oldham and Steven Van Zandt (tickets are available to the public).
The film has a commercial retail release date of November 6; the director’s cut, the producer’s cut and this new 2012 version will be available on DVD, Blu-ray and as part of a Super Deluxe Box Set.
Finally, the Stones are collaborating with London’s Carnaby Street for the 2012 Christmas installations. What will be shown will consist of huge 3D spheres suspended throughout Carnaby Street containing gold and silver vinyl records emblazoned with the Stones’ iconic artwork and album covers, arches will be dressed with the Stones tongue etc. The whole thing will start on November 8 and last until January 6.
September 14 – Chuck talks about the new songs, rehearsals and tour plans
In an interview (blogs.ajc.com), Chuck Leavell gives us some interesting information about the two new songs, the status of the band and the probability of a tour or more gigs in 2013.
He said, One Last Shot is a Keith number with a great riff – well, that’s something we would expect… Gloom and Doom is an up-tempo song by Mick and contratry to it’s title, it’s about asking a girl to stop talking about gloom and doom and to let the party begin.
Also important: Keith is tour ready and has no problem playing. This eases worries many fans had recently who feared that Keith was not capable to play gigs anymore due to his assumed health problems. But read for yourself below, what Chuck had to say about the band:
They have not made any announcements, so there’s no official news to report. They [rumored Brooklyn dates] will remain rumors until the band confirms, but we recently had sessions in Paris and worked on two great songs. One, Keith [Richards] brought in called ‘One More Shot.” It’s really cool, great guitar riff. And Mick has one called ‘Doom and Gloom.’ The song sounds a lot different than the title. The theme is that he’s talking to a girl saying all I hear from you is doom and gloom – let’s go party, let’s go dance. It’s an up-tempo tune.
[… tour?? …]
They’ll be on the 50th anniversary set coming in November.
As far as what’s left of this year, I can’t see that it would be very much. But I do think the possibility exists that the band would want to tour again, so I think the answer is yes. Having spent time in rehearsal and the studio recently, there’s nothing but smiles and backslaps and hugs going down. It reminds you of how passionate we all are about doing this and how much you miss it when it’s gone.
And 50 years? It’s such an incredible landmark, isn’t it? I’ve seen Keith talk about how long can the band stay together and basically his answer is that we’re in uncharted waters now. You’ve seen what the blues and jazz guys can do, but rock ‘n’ roll only came around in the ‘50s, so there is no precedent. We are the precedent! All we know is that as long as the band can write good songs and perform them well…and right now, is everyone’s health there? Absolutely.
[… Even Keith? …]
Based on the recent experience I’ve seen, I would say Keith would have no problem [going on tour]. I’m waiting for the call. I’m on standby and will remain so.
Go to blogs.ajc.com and get the whole story; also infos about his work with John Mayer, Friday’s Chastain show, his Mother Nature Network and getting old – Chuck turned 60 this year…
September 13 – Keith & Aaron
Aaron Neville is going to release his new album My True Story on January 22, 2013. That’s his debut for EMI’s Blue Note Records and his new record was produced by Keith Richards and Blue Note Records President Don Was. No wonder, that both of them were involved in the making, as you can see in the pic below. Much more can be seen and heared at YouTube, where you can Watch a video about the making of My True Story with footage from the recording studio and interviews with Neville, Keith and Don Was – recommended: see Keith do the Doo-Wop! [iorr/uc]
September 5 – Mick in Amsterdam
While we wait for more details about and the tracklist of the GRRR!-collection as well as infos as to where tickets are available for the forthcoming shows, Mick has been sighted in Amsterdam yesterday; see the pic below. That makes sense in so far as the Stones have their office and marketing stationed there. As news come in, I’ll keep you posted!
September 4 – greatest hits album with 2 new songs, Crossfire Hurricane, Vinyl Brussels Affair
[update] Official announcements say that on 12th November 2012, The Rolling Stones, ABCKO and Universal will worldwide release “GRRR!“, a 3 CD set with 50 tracks of greatest hits and a deluxe 4 CD version with 80 tracks of greatest hits which will include 2 new tracks: “Gloom And Doom” and “One Last Shot”. That will be issued on 13th November for the US. The tracks will include:
“… from their high octane version of Chuck Berry’s “Come On”, their first single issued in June 1963, via the thrilling chart-toppers “The Last Time”, “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction”, “Get Off Of My Cloud”, “Jumping Jack Flash”, “Honky Tonk Women” and the perennial juke-box and concert favourites “Brown Sugar”, “Tumbling Dice”, “Miss You” and “Start Me Up”, all the way to the present day with the inclusion of “Gloom And Doom” and “One Last Shot”, two new studio recordings recently completed by the group in Paris, France in August 2012.”
“During a three week teaser campaign fans were invited to download the free uView app in preparation for the announcement. From today, using the uView app fans can scan the GRRR! sleeve and watch the stunning imagery come to life in 3D animation right before their eyes. The campaign will have further exciting updates coming soon.” [See rollingstones.com for this and more.]
=> Preorder at universal-music.co.uk / GRRR! comes in the following formats:
- 3CD / 50 tracks in a Digi-pack with 24 page booklet
- 3CD / 50 tracks in a DVD size box with 36 page hardback book and 5 postcards
- 4CD / 80 tracks plus bonus CD, 7″ Vinyl, hardback book, Poster, 5 postcards in a presentation box
- 5 x 12″ Vinyl / 50 tracks in a casebound LP box
According to Chuck Leavell, the rehearsals in Paris lately included new material! He got an email from Mick on July 24 calling him to Paris for some work. Then last week, he added his playing on two new songs. He described those numbers as “up-tempo” Jagger/Richards rockers. On one Ronnie added slide guitar. Chuck said: “Great hooks. Great energy. Bare bones.” – That’s promising! See the Wall Street Journal for more. [thx Rob, UC]
Crossfire Hurricane, a new doku film about the rising Rolling Stones will be released in November. This was already mentioned here, see August 6 below. Now we get more details, and they raise our expectations to high levels (more like this at rollingstones.com):
“As befits the first rock band to reach the 50-year milestone with their global stature now greater than ever, the film combines extensive historical footage, much of it widely unseen, with contemporary commentaries by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Ronnie Wood and former Stones Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor. Period interviews, extensive live performance material and news archive give the production a truly kinetic aura and no-holds-barred approach.”
Brussels Affair, the famous 1973 bootleg of the 2 shows they played on Oktober 17 at the Forest National, Brussels, is going to be released on 180g Vinyl in three limited-edition box sets (Collector’s Edition [$750.-] Platinum Edition [$1250.-] and Art edition [§1500.-]). Included in all the sets are 3 vinyl discs, a book handigned by Mick, a “Tongue & Lips” Watch and a tour lithograph. Get all the details here!
September 1st – 4 Concerts in Nov./Dec. announced
Well it’s not quite a tour as many of us may had hoped, but hey, they gonna rock us anyway.
4 Concerts are scheduled for November: 2 in London (26. + 27. 11.) and 2 in Brooklyn (6. + 7. 12.)
Tickets should be from 200 to 500 [sdb]
The boys will not starve: 25 Million Dollar it is said they will be payed (see e.g. skynews)
August 28 – Charlie Is My Darling – Ireland 1965: Premiere & Box-Set
In 1965, just weeks after they released Satisfaction, the Stones toured Ireland and were accompanied by a film crew. That material is the basis of the now to be shown film “The Rolling Stones: Charlie Is My Darling – Ireland 1965“. You can catch the premiere at the New York Film Festival tomorrow, but there will be an encore showing on October 3rd, both at New York City’s Walter Reade Theater. The film has 2 or 3 songs captured and lots of traveling and 1965 fans opinions…
On November 6th, a box set is going to be released. Needless but still important to say: that release is promoted by ABKCO Films, i.e. the old Allan B. Klein thing. Details on the film at their site.
August 26 – 40 licks tour film unreleased – lost?
As the guardian.co.uk reports, Michael Apted shot a film in 2002 about the 40Licks tour. He watched and filmed the band for six weeks, documenting the rehearsals and the opening three dates of the Licks tour in Boston in September 2002. That’s exactly, what fans like us would like to see, right? However, Mick had the impression, that the material doesn’t do the band any good and asked the 105 minute film to be cut by 20 minutes twice. The second of those 20 minutes was too much for Apted and the project never was released. That’s sad, indeed.
I wonder whether there could be any possible way to encourage Mick to release it, at least for the fans?
August 25 – better pics, slight change of news app
The app-eyes slightly changed – now you can hear a purr and a snippet of Start Me Up – they’re builing up tension (although this hardly seems possible given the amount of time already consumed by waiting). The message however is positive: start them up ASAP!
Then, the DailyMail.co.uk shows the pics you know from August 22 below – but now without the watermarks. 95% of the text of the DailyMail discusses what you can see on the pics: the clothes and looks of the four gentlemen – pretty lame, if you’ld ask me, hehehe …
August 24 – Mick had fun in the studio
Mick just twittered a pic showing him in the Studio Guillaume Tell, playing an E major accord on a black Fender Stratocaster. He commended: “Had fun in the Paris studio this week!” Note the red Gibson SG behind him and his harps on the left side. In the back, you can see lots of Fender Telecasters and one Gibson Les Paul Sunburst – these must be Keith’s guitars. On the right, you can see Ronnie’s gear: lots of Fenders, some acoustics and at least one of his Zemaitis guitars.

That obviously means that the sessions or rehearsals have ended and the Stones are already off to different locations. I’ll keep you posted!
August 22 – Stones in Paris!
All four members of the band are in Paris right now, in a recording Studio names “Studio Guillaume Tell“. That of cause is great and good news!
What exactly is going on there is still not quite clear, but the most important fact is, that they all are together in one place and that whatever they are doing there, it obviously has something to do with music. Also there were reportedly Don Was, Darryl Jones and Chuck Leavell. Whether it is rehearsals for upcoming gigs or working on new material or re-checking older songs for another greatest hits compilation is still left to our imagination. Whenver new facts surface, I’ll pin them down here, promised!
August 19 – News announcement
The Stones annonce some “big news” to come soon! That’s fine, of cause! The only problem is, as expectations fligh high, anything less than a tour announcement could be a little disappointing, right? On Facebook, they suggest to download an app and point it on the pic below…
August 15 – No olympic stones
So the London games are over and the Stones didn’t show up, neither at the beginning, nor the end. But seriously – did you consider them to show up in the first place?
Ronnie Wood says, there have never been serious plans to join that caroussel of british pop and a little rock – that decsision did not surprise me and as I’ve seen some bits of the shows, I’m glad they didn’t join. Reminds me on their scandalous denial of joining the roundabout at the end of the show “Sunday Night At The London Palladium” in 1967, right? hehehe …
Meanwhile, Ronnie has another exhibition going on at Symbolic Collection: A Major Retrospective of 50 years of Rock and Roll (Thursday 9 August to 9 November, 34 Bruton Street, London, W1J 6QX) – so if you’re near Bruton Street, have a look, because this what you’re going to see:
- Original set lists and handwritten working lyrics for The Rolling Stones, Faces, The Birds and The Jeff Beck Group
- Guitars painted by Wood which feature rare drawings and lyrics
- A range of large canvas paintings, recent works which have never been displayed before, will be unveiled
Here’s some pics (Credit: © Symbolic London) and a Reuters video.
August 6 – 50 week, doku on HBO, biggest ebook so far
Let’s not forget, that Mick has confirmed some gigs this autumn and more to come next year. Until then, we can expect to see more from the archives or, as in this case, documentaries. According to Gibson.com and others, HBO will air a new documentary about the Stones directed by documentary filmmaker Brett Morgan, who promises us to hear music heared never before.
He has delved deep into the archives and has conducted more than 50 hours of interviews so far. Well, as far as I’m concerned, I can’t wait to get the exclusive super maximum edition weith all the 50 hours of interviews, hehehe …
Check out the video of the preparations and celebrations of the 50 years event just recently in London:

July 26 – Happy Birthday, Mick!
Today, our Mick Jagger turned sweet little 69! I think it’s save to ensure Mick of our all best wishes for his birthday and our many heartfelt thanks for 50 years of Rock ‘n Roll!
July 25 – Official Denial
Once again, folks, speculations and expectations about coming Stones events have led to misinformation. The story below, “Rehearsals in Paris with Bill Wyman” simply is a hoax. It was started by french magazine Paris Match first.
I must and I honestly do apologize to all of you for falling for this. Read more about that for example at examiner.com
Nevertheless, it still stands undisputed, that Mick himself has announced that the Rolling Stones will do 50th anniversary concerts in the autumn of this year. For this, we must wait for more detailed information to be released.
July 23 – Rehearsals in Paris with Bill WYman
MORE good news: All Stones plus former bassist Bill Wyman as well as all other usual ‘guest-musicians’ have gathered in Paris, France at the Studio de la Grande Armée. Rumours have it, that maybe they plan to play in London at the opening of the Olymic Games – an idea which was repeatedly denied by the group and officials. However, the Stones rehearsing is definitely a sign for an end of this endless waiting. Have a look at Paris Match for the reason behind all the latest speculations…
July 14 – Mick confirms gig this autumn
Good news: Mick has revealed in an interview he gave the Evening Standard, that the Stones are going to play some gigs this autumn!
Mick says:
“You will definitely be seeing us all together soon. It’s been great fun being back together and there are a lot of memories in here. I can’t believe it’s been 50 years. We’ve been hanging out together, seeing quite a bit of each other and we want to do some gigs.”
July 12 – Thank you for 50 fantastic years, lads!!!!
!!!!Congratulations!!!!
=> Keith says, the Stones are rehearsing! Speaking to BBC, he said:
“There’s things in the works – I think it’s definitely happening […] But when? I can’t say yet.”
We’re playing around with the idea and had a couple of rehearsals – we’ve got together and it feels so good. […] There might be life in the old dog yet – we’ll die gracefully, elegantly wasted.“
=> Or see their interview with BBC (4.51) | How about a radio show? Hear BBC’s Stones at the Beep (1 hr) – incredible stuff from the archives. Thanks Steve [UC]

Headline fly – all around. One of the many is the obviously the mirror.co.uk, where this week it’s Stones week. Right now, Keith tells about some of his favourite pics from the new book. Go & have a read and look.
Also very nice is Mojo Magazine’s look at the very beginning of the band: really recommended!
July 8 – more 50ies celebrations, Charlie informs us
Among many others, you’ll find articles concerning the 50th birthday of the world’s greatest rock ‘n roll band, The Rolling Stones all around the globe.
For instance: DailyMail.co.uk, Google, or the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (german).
The BBC Radio 6 music has (re-)issued 16 radio shows lasting from just minutes to one hour around the band and it’s times.
Charlie has quipped some lines in an interview with the Washington Post (AP) concerning playing Jazz, Boogie Woogie and the 50 anniversary plans:
[…] I think we’re going to be doing a lot of 50th anniversary stuff, we, the Rolling Stones.
AP: Like a tour or an album?
Charlie: No, just other things. Fifty years of things. A documentary, well, they haven’t approved it yet. I haven’t seen it, but we worked on that earlier this year. Books and things like that. There
will be other things that the 50 years mean. And touring, we haven’t gotten that far. We’re still talking about the color of the back page of the book, so we’ll see what happens.
Ok, Charlie is as reluctant as ever, speaking to the press. Let’s wait for details from the upcoming summit in London…
July 6 – Stones summit next Thursday!
On July 12, all members of the Rolling Stones will meet and greet the press in London to kick off their big Five-O golden jubilee celebrations!
They will be attending a gala preview of the photographic exhibition of “The Rolling Stones: 50” at Somerset House. Bill Wyman und Mick Taylor are also expected to join in. Hopefully, we’ll get some more detailed informations about things to come within the next months!

July 4 – Keith meets Charlie, Ronnie rocks with Bill & Mick T., new Mick book
Ok, how nice, three notable updates today! First. People who attended the concert of the ABC&D of Boogie Woogie on Saturday, have told that Keith appeared at his table just off the stage entrance in the minute when Charlie appeared on stage – see the pic in the right. Apparently, nobody went to him so Keith could enjoy the gig without hassled every second minute. That’s alright, I find. It could be that Charlie even didn’t know that Keith was to come along, because Charlie noticed Keith early in the gig as he was sitting at his table and Charlie burst into a big grin and nodded towards him. Keith waved back. Great. [thx JoeStones, UC] See the report at RollingStone.com, an interview with Charlie at spinner.com
Second Ronnie plays his gigs celebrating the songs of Chess Records. With him on stage were Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor! Ronnie is closing his night of blues celebrating the songs made famous by the likes of Howlin’ Wolf, Chuck Berry, Etta James and Muddy Waters on the Chess Records label. Read the reviews at mirror.co.uk and a so-so report at telegraph.co.uk
Third Simon&Schuster have issued another book of interest: “Mick” – see the title picture and link just above on the right!
July 2 – Charlie download, Mick at Jade’s wedding
The ABC&D of Boogie Woogie performed at Jimmi Fallon and thanks to Chris [UC] you can download the video here at stonesnews.com. It’s AVI, 46MB and has only the Charlie-part from the show.
The ABC&D of Boogie Woogie just released a new live album and just played a 4 night gig at the New York City jazz club The Iridium.
We also hear, that Jade Jagger, Mick’s older daughter he has with Bianca, just married last Saturday. Mick of cause was there at the event and was said to have sung You Can’t Always Get What You Want for the married couple – I’m sure he didn’t meant it mean… more infos on this at the sun, ultimateclassicrock or the mirror
June 29 – Charlie yesterday / today at J. Fallon!
Charlie Watts keeps on rolling! And he’s doing mighty fine. Together with the ABC&D of Boogie Woogie, he played a gig at Licoln Center, NYC, yesterday. Here you can see 2 pics from that gig; one from the soundcheck, one from the final bow… [thanks Mackie, UC]
And tonight, Charlie can be seen playing at Jimmy Fallon, so don’t you miss it!
June 27 – new “50” Rolling Stones Logo
Well, that was about time! Things get rolling! The Stones just have released their new 50 anniversary logo! Thanks to John Pasche, who created the basic design in 1971…
June 26 – Jack White for Don Was? | New pics from 1972 (J. Marshall)
Rolling Stone got that headline first, it seems; now it’s blown all over the net… Keith apparently said that he could think of working together with Jack White when it comes down to recording material. Reason behind this is, that he recalled their collaboration in 2009 and hopes, those tracks will sometime be released. Keith and Jack are friends for years. When asked if Jack could produce the new material, he replied: “That’s always a possibility. The door is wide open.”
Of cause, this doesn’t mean that Don Was is out. It’s just that every syllable one hears from one of the Stones these days is simply being blown way out of proportions…
and, oh, yes, let’s not forget Mick Jagger – I bet he’s going to put in his remarks concerning this subject, too, right?
=> See 12 new pics from the 1972 tour at cnnphotos.blogs.cnn.com , shot by Jim Marshall – although we have seen lots of pics from these locations, the pics are new, at least for me… these are beautiful shots, very recommended!
June 19 – Summit in London in July, new album possible!
This is GREAT news! As Rolling Stone reports, ‘Stones insiders‘ have told about serious plans for some gigs later this and of cause also next year. But Keith himself is also quoted. After all the letdowns, blown up rumours and (even official) denials, now at last we have some more serious stuff to think about!
First: the Stones still think about one or maybe more gigs this year to mark their 50th anniversary. Keith says: “I’d like to get a couple of shows down and see how it goes […] But I’d love it.”
Second:
The same holds true for plans about a tour next year.
Their last rehearsals in April this year Weehawken, New Jersey (see below), were fvery relaxed and joyful. According to Brett Morgen, who is the director of a documentary and who was invited to film the event to shoot footage for a documentary celebrating the group’s anniversary, the Stones ran through “Beast of Burden” “Respectable” “Fool to Cry” and “Gimme Shelter“, among other classics, and they were “extremely tight”.
Keith is quoted saying: “I thought I’d be quite rusty, after all we hadn’t done it for a while, five years or something. But it sounded as fresh as you could hope for. It was a great week.“
Third: in July, the Stones will meet in London to discuss further live performances and even the possibillity of new songs for a maybe new album!
Keith: “It’s all very hush-hush, … I’m going over to London for a bit, so I’ll find out more then.
We’re going to talk about that in July and see. I mean, I’d love to get some tracks down and see what songs we’ve got. And that goes along with part of getting the band back together and getting things moving. So I’d love to cut some tracks, yeah.”
Cheek to cheek with Mick? “Oh, yeah, I have no doubt.“
[thx uc, ggl]
June 18 – No Glastonbury gig in 2013!
UPDATE! Official denial of Glastonbury gig! Meanwhile, the Stones camp has denied that they will be playing for the last time and this at Glastonbury festival 2013. So this is 50% good and 50% not so good news:no Glastonbury, no retirement! But as you can see in the lines below: it was quite alright to be caucious about this new rumor, right?
New rumour: will the Stones play Glastonbury festival next year? Apparently, the Stones are to play next year’s Glastonbury festival “after talks with organiser Michael Eavis“. So far, the mirror.co.uk only cites sources close to the band – which could mean anything and let’s not forget that this is not a relyable (official) statement. The Mirror says:
” ‘All four members have agreed that next year is the right time to have one final hurrah and put on the gig of their lives. […] It’s a case of now or never, and obviously Glastonbury is the most important festival on the circuit.’ According to sources it will be the final date in only a handful of shows which will take place in Britain and America in 2013. […] It is now believed the band will not do a full world tour as planned and will only do a number of shows across the UK and America.”
=> See Mr. Eavis’ explanation by himself at virtualfestivals.com, about 18 minutes, 40 seconds!
If you read this carefully, it might appear like some of Mr. Eavis’ wishful thinking, and this not for the first time. But in any case, one thing is getting more and more clear: the plans for the upcoming events are more and more pressing and during the next weeks, more and more things will leak through. So let’s all look forward to more infos and news coming up!

June 10 – No real news these days, Keith in new DVD
While we are waiting for some more information or signs about what we can expect to be happening in the next months, none truly interesting facts or even rumours surfaced during the last days. Last thing we have heard was that Ronnie clearly said that he was told to keep his schedule free in October/November this year. This, IMHO, could point towards more rehearsals for upcoming gigs in 2013. Without more rehearsals, it seems very unlikely that the Stones would start to play any gig somewhere. At best, these rehearsals could include new material: a new album in 2013 would be appropriate for this kind of anniversary. But be assured, that more news definitely will be coming!
Meanwhile Keith is featured in a new DVD about blues legend David “Honeyboy” Edwards, who passed away in Chicago on August 29, 2011, aged 96. He even knew and played with Robert Johnson himself – can you believe that? So we have Keith and others talking about the blues and this is truly an affair of his heart! Check out rttnews.com for more details and the DVD-trailer below:
