Announcement expected

No Filter Tour 2020

Like myself, I bet you all have expected The Rolling Stones would have made some announcement about the upcoming tour already by now.

Well, until today, that didn’t happen. And the most likely reason for this could be:

  1. The tour starts on May 8th – and that is still 51 days ahead by now, so it’s almost two months. If in the US gatherings of many people are forbidden for, say, 3 weeks or even a month, that would still leave some days until the tour starts.
  2. Generally, if the tour is rescheduled to late summer or autumn, that still would finacially be more feasable that to cancel it completely, the fans could keep their tickets and the Stones management would not have to refund them.
  3. If they still wait for some more days, then the menagement will have better data about the situation this summer.

In any case, we will see what their decision is quite soon – just a matter of days. I wish for a quick defeat of COVID-19 and a thunderous, victorious US tour of The Rolling Stones this year! To postpone the tour for 1 year also would be a possibility, but it’s less likely…

Maybe you remember, that Ronnie would have played together with Ben Waters the 2 Chuck Berry tribute shows in London. Well, these were postponed and will be rescheduled when the worst of this pandemic outbreak is over, as musicweek.com reports:

We have decided that it’s just not safe and it’s not fair to gamble with people’s lives; I also just heard that the government is going to ban large gatherings next week in any case … We are going to postpone the events and hope you will stick with us – several of you have asked if Ronnie will still do the rescheduled show – yes that’s the whole point, we couldn’t do it without him, the rescheduled events will definitely include him! The dates will be announced asap when things have calmed down a bit.

Tour in danger

COVID-19

Nothing is official as yet!

UPDATE March 13 II – according to sources like The Australian, a team of scientists has cracked the code ofCOVID-19 and are in sight of a possible vaccine:

Keith Chappell came up with the idea to hijack the virus’s own fearsome infectious properties with revolutionary “molecular clamp” technology, and since January he has worked around the clock with colleagues Paul Young and Trent Munro to put it into a jab to inoculate the population.

After experimenting with 250 different formulations, they have settled on a candidate vaccine, S-Spike, and this is being tested on laboratory mice at the University of Queensland as a prelude to human trials by mid-year. There is every chance the team will be the first in the world to bring it to market.

That sure sounds good. None the less is what The Star reports: Researchers from Sunnybrook, the University of Toronto and McMaster University in Hamilton have isolated ‘severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2’ (known clinically as SARS-CoV-2), the agent responsible for the ongoing outbreak of COVID-19. This will help researchers across the world develop better diagnostic testing, treatments and vaccines, and gain a better understanding of SARS-CoV-2 biology, evolution and clinical shedding. More details: sunnybrook.ca

UPDATE March 13 I – judging from the developement things have proceeded within 24 hours alone, I think we can consider the Stones tour for this year cancelled. I hate to expect this, but any other option sems way out of reach by now. This is really sad, folks.

So whatever comes next, stay save and in sould health, folks!

G. McFatridge sent this in:

Our Gov Gavin Newsom here in California has called for all gatherings of over 250 people be cancelled or postponed. I assume this would impact the Stones tour which begins in San Diego.

Poland locks down, Belgium follows, Lufthansa has cancelled 23.000 flights… and it goes on and on like this.

=> Check out WHO and WHO news releases for serious facts and information!

March 12 – But with the way, COVID-19 is spreading around the world, lots of events get cancelled and Trump even closed down the borders to travellers from Europe, we must admit that the upcoming tour of The Rolling Stones is also in danger to being cancelled!

This would indeed be VERY sad! So let’s keep patience and wait for any official decision by the band and it’s managers. Fingers crossed!

I’ll keep you posted!
Cheers,
Johannes

One word about Corona

COVID-19

COVID-19 spreads around the world these days.

Firstly, please have a look at these big, friendly letters:

DON’T PANIK!

There is some chance, that because of the spreading of this virus, the upcoming Stones tour could partly be in danger, because large assemblies of people could become prohibited. That could happen, but it must not.

In 95% of the positive cases where someone has cought the virus, that just passes by like a cold or a minor flu. Nearly all those cases, where somebody died of Corona, that person was either very old, or already had some desease before, or both. OK? Believe it or not, about 20.000 people die of influenza every year in Germany alone!

So let’s stay calm and hope, that Corona and the 2020 No Filter US tour don’t interfere and the tour gets rolling just as planned!

If interested, the WHO has some reliable information about COVID-19, some advice for the public and a Q&A for a start…
