Houston – THE STAGE!

Houston, NRG Stadium - stage for The Rolling Stones tour 2024 - pics by Sergio Balasso

Lucky fans we are, thanks to Sergio Balasso, who posted pictures on Facebook!

In Shidoobee’s Facebook group, he wrote: “Working the 2 night of the Rolling Stone move in. The first night was working in Catering and being fed by thier own staff the food was delicious. seeing the stage being set up and the view from behind the stage. 2 night was working in catering and now setting in my car watching the 17 of 18 wheelers and making sure nobody is bothering the trucks.

So here we have pictures from the catering backstage, the stage being built and the 17 trucks for the equipement – aesome!

Oh, Ronnie busts in!

5 days of rehearsals

Gary Clark Jr. opens the show in Houston

We are very lucky to have details of the rehearsals of last week, April 15 to 19!

Thanks to Dan [iorr], we now have the details of last weeks rehearsals. These reports show how the band has gone through a lot of songs and slowly melts them down what could be near a possible setlist for the upcoming shows. Off Stones: RIP Dickey!

Dickey Betts + Duane Allman

Sad, sad news – Dickey Betts dies at 80

I, as a Stones fan, was hit by the music of the Allman Brothers Band in the early 70ies. Their times and their music will be forever carved into my heart. Maybe, many of us Stones fans out here have similar feelings about the ABB. Then again, our very Chuck Leavell had played and toured as a member of the ABB with them from 1973 on (after Duane had died at the end of October 1971) and we all know that he is a member of The Rolling Stones as principle keyboardist and music director since 1982.

So here, in honor of Dickey, some short lines from an interview by Chuck about Dickey and a vide of the ABB playing ‘Blue Sky’ in 1992.

gpb.org: “Chuck Leavell on death of Allman Brothers bandmate Dickey Betts: ‘He left an enduring legacy’

Well, I can tell you that, when I first joined the band—and this would have been, when we were touring in 1973—we played Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Dickey had been married to a Native American woman named Sandy Blue Sky, who he wrote the song “Blue Sky“ for. And Dickey called me up and he said, “Chuck, we got a couple of days off. Would you and Rose Lane (my wife Rose Lane), like to go to a reservation and meet some of these Native Americans, meet some of the chiefs, and attend some ceremonies? And that was one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had. It was so sweet of him to reach out to myself and to Rose Lane and to include us in that little trip that we made. And it’s something that I will never, ever forget and be grateful for.

And here are all the brothers, still alive, with a kickin’ One Way Out – “This is the first time the ABB played this song, in March 3rd, 1971 (first show). The Eat A Peach version is from 06/27/71.

Rumours – Lady GaGa??

Rumours – Lady GaGa??

The press seems to take note on what fans speculate across the net.

With headlines like “Exclusive: Rolling Stones US tour set to feature iconic popstar after setlist leak” (mirror.co.uk) and “The Rolling Stones’ US tour ‘set to feature iconic popstar after setlist leak’” (dailymail.co.uk) the tabloids link the rehearsals of SSOH with the guess that Lady Gaga will join the Stones on their tour.

Well, “Calm down!” is my first guess on this. Lady Gaga might join in on the opening night – maybe – but the wole tour? Nonsense, I’ld say. Not that I (or we all) would not apprechiate this – but I think, that this ain’t gonna happen… what do you think?

Woah – only 9 days more and counting down…

Rehearsals – Smash!

Rehearsals – Smash!

Only 10 days until the opening night and the band rehearses like mad!

From what we can find on the net and on social media, The Rolling Stones are seriously busy and playing their asses off during rehearsals.

And this is especially true for the new stuff! Out of the twelve songs from Hackney Diamonds, they have rehearsed 9 – so we can definitely expect them to play some of these during the shows! If you’ld ask me, they may play them all 12 and, if fucking up the intro, just stop and start that song anew – I won’t care! 🙂 What do you think or expect from the shows? Why not write a comment?

In addition, the lucky folks hearing them rehearse from outside tell of a great sound and high energy level at rehearsals – so we can expect that they once again will surprise the world with their performances during this tour. Meanwhile, I am on the verge of believing in sheer wonders: if you don’t, just check out The Rolling Stones in 2024!

Here’s a list of songs from yesterday’s rehearsal:

  • Start Me Up
  • Get Off Of My Cloud
  • Angry
  • Out Of Time
  • Mess It Up
  • She’S A Rainbow
  • Sweet Sound Of Heaven
  • Tumbling Dice
  • Like A Rolling Stone
  • Honky Tonk Women
  • Whole Wide World
  • Beast Of Burden
  • Emotional Rescue
  • Fool To Cry
  • Gimme Shelter
  • Midnight Rambler

Songs rehearsed and a better Ronnie

Songs rehearsed

Some news about the rehearsals surfaced recently!

From what folks could hear outisde, the band sems to be rehearsing almost all the new songs, which is a very good sign for the upcoming tour! Chanel Hayes comes strong on Gimme Shelter.

As for the ballads, folks heard “She’s A Rainbow“, “Sweet Black Angel” and of course “Angie“. And Keith is rehearsing “Tell Me Straight“!

Then, last Friday, these songs could be heard: Gimme Shelter several times, especially the intro, 3x Mess It Up, Heartbreaker, 2x Bite My Head Off, Under My Thumb, Let It Bleed, Angie, Litte T&A (!!) and Sweet Virginia.

And here’s a picture from Fb. with a list of more songs registered from yesterday (thx Dan!)

Ronnie warming up

Ronnie joins The Black Crowes in LA

Ronnie – what a surprise – is in LA …

… and while the Black Crowes play the Greek Theater behind their Happiness Bastards tour to celebrate their first new album after 15 years of the same name, our Ronnie joins in to play the old Faces calssic “Stay With Me”.

Check out spin.com / liveforlivemusic.com / or blabbermouth.com for more on this: Ronnie’s … “… appearance with THE BLACK CROWES came just six songs into the band’s set, with frontman Chris Robinson describing the guitarist as a man who “doesn’t need an introduction but he’s going to get one.“”
